Description
We're a Leeds based craft beer brand hell-bent on producing exhilarating and kick-ass beer!

We bring you craft beer with a nostalgic twist, born from influential culture of the 80's & 90's.

At the heart of Play Brew Co is an obsession for creating quality beers. That all started back in 2014, when our founder Phil embarked on a journey of home brewing after being inspired by the craft beer cropping up in Leeds.

2017: It’s been a long road but we are delighted to announce that Play Brew Co’s first trio of beers is hitting bars and stores in the North of England. The Arcade ‘86 Series is a collection of three recipes that pay homage to Phil’s favourite beers – tying his experience of home brewing and his on hand experience at brew labs together.

Keg at Brewdog Reading. Aroma is lightly boozy with dark chocolate and sweet fruit. Darkest brown. Thing foamy beige head. Fruity with underlying dark chocolate. Berry edge. Light. Fizzy carbonation. Long somewhat astringent finish.

Can, consumed 1 month past BBE. Hazy gold with fluffy white head. Aroma of raspberry, slushie's and subsequent e numbers, coconut. Taste is somewhat unpleasant. The coconut is fine and understated. The blue slushie confection is harsh and well....crap. Quite bitter. dry. Limited hops so I don't think age is a big factor here, its just rubbish although drinkable.

Can, consumed 1 month past BBE. Murky amber-red with brief fizz. Aroma really is an in your face gummy bear treat with a mix of confected fruit juices. Taste of rhubarb in the main but some softer strawberry is notable as well as a sour lemon (slight sherbety) lemon. Malts have a smooth character which works well with the spritzy carbonation. Much better than I was expecting.

Tap at Cherry Reds, Birmingham. Light hazed pink hued gold, minor head. A sweetened perfumed watermelon, fizzy sherbet, light, refreshing but a bit wishy washy. Not great.

Can from lowcostbeer, BBE in 2 months. New brewery for me although I have seen their weird flavoured beers around for several months now. Cloudy amber-red with small white top. Coconut leaps out in the aroma followed by lactose, chocolate and hints of the marshmallow. Taste of milk chocolate, coconut, vanilla, confectionary, grains, very light herbal notes from the hops. Its sweet but not sickly, very little bitterness. Decent dessert beer although I which there was more evident hopping in the finish.

Keg at Brewdog, Shepherds Bush before going to see the ever entertaining They Might Be Giants at the Empire. Tiramisu and pancake? Sounds like a bad enough combination for a pudding, why the hell would you put both in a beer? Only got it because my daughter thought it was hilarious and insisted on my buying it (plus it was one of the few beers that wasn't too extortionate at this particularly expensive Brewdog). It's dark brown to black with a tan head. Tia Maria up front with a touch of chocolate syrup. There's a little burnt greasy note that is presumably meant to represent chocolate. It's pretty sweet and syrupy, but that touch of burnt malt keeps it drinkable - just - and it's not actually that unpleasant. It's still a stupid beer though. Please stop making things like this.
