The brewing is done on a small scale and in an artisanal way, using as many organic raw materials as possible. In the beginning, around 150 litres were brewed at a time, since 2021 300 litres. The hops are also grown locally as much as possible. The recipe is as traditional as possible, often with a historical (local) link, and all recipes are in the idiosyncratic hand of the brewer. In addition to the regular range, special one-off variations are brewed regularly.

Aroma of malt, caramel, spicy notes, some nutmeg, hint of hops. Flavour is light to moderate sweet with a moderate bitter finish. Some metallic notes in the aftertaste, which is a shame.

Aroma of dark malt, peat, hint of roast, mild smoke, leather, liquorice. Flavour is moderate sweet with a light bitter finish. Body could be a bit more full. Pleasant peaty smoked beer.

Bottle at home. Took ridiculously long to pour properly because of the explosive foamy head. Aroma is malt, herbal and spicy notes, caramel. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Body is medium. Decent bitterness but a dull malty herbal aroma, does little for me.

Bottle at home. Aroma is malt, caramel, winter spices, liquorice, cinnamon, candy, herbal, aniseed. Flavour is medium sweet with a little bitterness in the finish. Body is medium. A bit too heavy on the winter spices for my taste, but it’s not sickeningly sweet and has a decent body. Not a bad example of the style.

Bottle from Lekkerbier, Sint Nicolaasga. Aroma is lots of oak, ripe and tart dark fruits, malt, caramel, notes of plums. Flavour is tart and a bit sweet with a mild sour touch and some bitterness in the finish. Body is medium. Very woody with some complexity, smooth and soft. Good ’mild’ Flanders Brown!

From tap at Noordelijk Kerst- en Winterbierenfestival 2017. Aroma is "appelstroop", wood, touch of peat, green apples, malt, and iodine. Flavour is light sourish and a bit sweet. Body is medium. Pretty clumsy and harsh with lots of flavours that shouldn't be present.

From tap at Noordelijk Kerst- en Winterbierenfestival Hoogeveen 2019. Bit sweetish with an aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, some coffee, and cocoa. Mild to medium sweet with some roasty bitterness. Body is above medium. Fine Stout.

Bottle 0,33ltr: Cloudy brown reddish with an sour start that goes into an refreshing Dunkleweizen, hints of oak, cherry-syrup and banana. But maybe more body and i think you get something great to drink.
