Description
Our aim is to reveal the quality potential of the traditional orchards that we foster in Devon, while cultivating, nurturing and encouraging them to thrive.
We work with farmers to help breathe life back into traditional orchards on their farms; to prevent further decline and the extinction of important local apple varieties.
In most cases the apples in these orchards were previously left to rot on the ground year after year, yet they include incredible cider varieties as well as unusual local dessert and cooking varieties. Many of these varieties are rare or on the verge of extinction but make beautiful cider.
The cidery itself is located in an old stable yard in the village of Huxham near Exeter. With capacity for 9000 bottles per year, this is a small but focussed operation. There aren’t any bells and whistles in sight, just outstanding cider and two people, whole heartedly devoted to their produce.

75cl bottle from Scrattings, shared with Soph on a wet Monday October evening. Misty golden yellow. Aroma is gently sweet apple juice. Fine carbonation. Yes, I suppose there is some light lemon sherbet notes as per the description though they are quite delicate. Lemon cheesecake is a bit of a stretch. Crisp apple skins, soft lemon zest, citric moments. Nice sparkling pet nat cider overall.

750ml wired cork bottle from Scrattings. Huxham Blend Vintage 2019. 5.7%. Opened with a loud pop. Pours a golden colour with a foamy white head that quickly dissipates away and aroma of mucky apple, fruity & funky. Taste is sweetish, fleshy apple, fruity, mellow, bittersweet, just a hint of mucky barnyard funk, and lots of soft tannins. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry fruity apple finish. Very good.
