12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 3/14/2018. Pours nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, melon, berry, citrus peel/rind, light pepper, pine, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, spicy rye, toasted dark/brown bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate dark/roast/bready/rye malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, melon, berry, citrus peel/rind, light pepper, pine, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, spicy rye, toasted dark/brown bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, grassy, roast bitterness; and rye spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, melon, berry, citrus peel/rind, light pepper, pine, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, spicy rye, toasted dark/brown bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate dark/roast/bready/rye malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness and rye spiciness balance; with zero acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from hop/roast bitterness and rye spiciness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, fairly sticky, and slightly resinous/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 6.6%. Overall this is an awesome black IPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate dark/roast/bready/rye malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mellowly bitter/drying finish, never aggressive. Loved the Chinook, Simcoe, Citra, and Columbus hop profile as expected. Very juicy and fairly dank hop complexity; nice roast/rye malt backbone, that still lets the hops shine. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Can from Craft Brewed. Pours a clearish gold with a finger of foam that dissipates quickly. Peach and durian aromas with some with some coconut and dank notes as it warms. Very low bitterness, with coconut and pillowy guava and peach on the palate. Smooth finish with a well-rounded mouthfeel. Maybe a touch boozy. Nice drop from Brewdog. --- Beer merged from original tick of Juggernaut on 28 Apr 2018 at 21:07 - Score: 7. Original review text: Peach and durian nose. Coconut and dank as it warms. Coconut, guava on the palate, very smooth. Slightly boozy, no bitterness.

Can from Craft Brewed. Pours a deep brown to black with a finger of foam that lingers. Pine and citrusy hops with some light chocolate orange aromas. Porter-like body, good hops throughout, roasted malt is played down, hops up. Nice black IPA / hoppy porter.

Keg at BD AGM. It pours cloud orange with a small white head. The aroma is fresh, tangy orange, marmalade, kumquat, oily resin and sherbet. The taste is dry, punchy bitterness, oily, resinous, bit of caramel, zesty, orange peel, tangerine, kumquat, zesty, tannin and marmalade with a lingering drying finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Not bad at all. Originally a 3.5, upped to 3.7 at Overworks the second time round. Big punchy bitterness. Nice.

Review based on the BJCP2008 guidelines (style 14A). Bottle 33 cl - batch 349 CEAA. AROMA: nice moderate hop aromas, with a fruity character (passionfruit, some peach and sweet orange). sweet malt background. APPEARANCE: golden amber and slightly hazy. almost white average head with average retention. TASTE: flavours similar to the aromas (passionfruit, sweet oranges, some peach), and some floral notes. sweet malt background. balanced medium bitterness that lingers into a semi-dry finish. PALATE: medium-light body with medium carbonation. no hop derived astringency. OVERALL: a very nice and perfumy english IPA, maybe with less malt presence.
