Description
Saimaa Brewing Company on yksi Suomen vanhimmista yhä toiminnassa olevista pienpanimoista. Juuremme ulottuvat vuoteen 1995, jolloin ravintoloitsija Pertti Oksa aloitti oluenpanon Mikkelissä 200 litran ravintolapanimossa.

Draught@HBF2006. Extremely pale yellow colour, close to water transparency. No head. Aroma is pretty much to the border of riped pears, with some slight sugary notes. Flavour is very much sugary and even quite artificial pear-like flavouring.

Draught, 4.6% at Bruuveri. Weak bready aroma. Hazy golden colour. Very small white head. The flavour is quite citric. Dusty notes, quite malty, but the acidity puts me off a bit, like most other Finnish lagers. Fruity finish.

Draught, 4.6% at Bruuveri. Bready aroma, a lot like an alcohol free beer. Quite bitter flavour, slightly citric. OK malty, and slightly dusty.

Bottled (BB 02/2009)
Slightly hazy golden color, small white head. I am suprised to find grainy and buttery aroma, latter is a sign of diacetyl? Watery palate, weak malt profile. Decent hoppyness, some fruityness and then toffeish butterness, which gives unclean impression to this beer. Harsh hoppyness in dry, empty (although long) aftertaste. Slightly failed attempt to make a Czech-type pils?

Bottled at Petalax Beer Festival. Clear golden, brief head. Grassy and papery, light bodied with clean mouthfeel. Cardboardy finish without bitterness. An attempt at a tropical adjunct lager? With this much water in the recipe I can see why they named it after a lake...
