Description
Welcome at Heaps of Hops, the Amsterdam based craft brewing company.
We make lower alcohol craft beers, so-called session ales. Our beers are full flavor crafts, but easy on the alcohol.. By using lots of hops in our recipes the taste is as you would expect of a passionately crafted beer!
So, what’s Heaps? Heaps is Australian slang, often used to say there is a lot of something. They use it for almost anything, such as ‘heaps of stars’, ‘heaps of fun’ and ‘heaps cool’. It was in Australia where the idea for Heaps of Hops beers was born during a round the world motorbike trip in 2016. After drinking many local beers and tasting some great lower alcohol beers, the idea for Heaps of Hops came to life.
Our motto is ‘because less is more’. We brew with less malts and more hops. Therefore our beers have less alcohol but more taste, and less calories to keep you more fit!

Bottle @ home. Clear light amber color, virtually no heard. Smell malts, lightly hops. Taste lightly malts, pleasantly hoppy, decently bitter. Decent body, average yet suitable carbonation. Quite nice. Very well done for a beer with this ABV.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Bierhut, Uithoorn. Clear dark copper color with a a loose light beige head. Caramel, hops and some citrus in the aroma. Sweet taste with a slight metallic aftertaste. Good body for its ABV. Interesting take on a session IPA focusing more on the malts than the hops.

Bottle at home. Batch B201708. Best before september 2018. Bought last week from Drinks & Gifts. Apparently a year old. Murky dark amber with offwhite head. Sweet malts, light sour grain, caramel, chestnuts, quite leathery bitter, some hay, dry grassiness, light citrus peel. Light sweet and quite bitter, light sour. Not convinced the sour is intended, so probably a little infection. Medium body or slightly under. The bottle has a screenprinted logo and a carton hanging from the neck sporting Heaps of Hops, but the aroma is disappointingly not very hoppy. Drinks more like a brown ale or Dunkel/Tmavy than anyhing else. I understand this beer is 1 year old and probably performs better fresh. However this was not clear to me when I picked out this beer online at Drinks & Gifts. It's still sold within its stated best before time period but it tastes quite poor. Please keep realistic best before dates on your bottles.
