This is very watery. Out of the four imperial stouts I had today, this one seems the weakest. Pours black with fizzy foam. Consistency is medium. It almost tastes just like a regular stout. The booze is very hidden. Notes of coffee and nuts. Not a huge body - aftertaste is short. On cask at volos.

(draught at Bryden’s, 12-21-12) Pours black with a thin tan head that faded quickly without lace. Aroma is very wine-forward, like a tart red (expected from the pinot...). Oaky tannin and vanilla comes in with warmth along with a very light hint of coffee roast. Flavour is again winey at first, with a bit of acidity though not quite sour. Vanilla from the oak comes in mid-palate along with a bit of roast, and then finishes with some tannin and roast coffee that lingers in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is very thin for an imperial stout, but the carbonation very soft. Booze fairly well-hidden until warm. Very much a red wine-beer hybrid, tasted more like a blend than a BA. Quite interesting for those who love both, though a bit more body would have been ideal.

This saison poured a clear, dark yellow colour with a minimal, soapy white head. Scents include yellow mustard, spice, very faint vinegar and light malts. First swig was almost peppery with other flavours of yeast and cinnamon. Finish was lightly bitter with light cinnemon and spice lingering.

This Pale ale poured a clear, medium yellow colour with a quick living, frothy, white head. To the nose there are scents of grass hops, spruce trees and a light vanilla. First sip was nice and flavourful, but not as bitter/hoppy as you might take from the aroma. Flavours of honey, cereal and toast most prodominant. Finish is hoppy but only medium bitter with citrus/grass flavours lingering.

Can at Chriso tasting (thanks Chris) 18/11/12. Lightly hazed amber with a decent off white head that retains well. Nose comprises caramel malts, hops, light pine, touch of tropical fruits. Taste follows, sweetish sugars stand out in the flavour. Medium bodied with soft carbonation leading to a bitter sweet finish. Touch above average, wouldn’t seek out again.

This ale poured a deep amber colour with a nice, big, foamy, tan coloured head. No lacing. Scents include malt/caramel, gravy, ripe fruit and a light earthy aroma. First swig had medium carbonation, slightly thin mouthfeel, caramel, dough, tea and leather flavours. Finish is lightly bitter with a small amount of hop bitterness.
