750ml bottle from the LCBO. Pours a deep reddish black with a big pillowy khaki head that fades slowly leaving nice lace. Nose is toffee, coffee and chocolate with notes of vanilla and maple. Nice sweet start with some nuts and coffee with vanilla and a definite maple note balancing a slight bitterness.. Creamy slightly thin mouth with a lingering smoky finish.

750mL bottle, from MartinT, drunk 3/29/14
Really impressive pour. Clear, obviously filtered (bottom of bottle confirmed), but yet the tan head is large and quite well-retained.
The nose is full of bourbon and sweet chocolate, though there is a good dose of vanilla and dark fruits; boysenberry being very, very prominent. Not too aggressive on the bourbon thankfully, it seems they were testing it weekly and really pulled it out at the peek time, as it’s bourbony, but still allows the beer to do most of the work. Very strong aroma, and no actual ethanol sharpness, but, unfortunately, lots of glue-like aroma. Would imagine this could be alleviated if it werent filtered, but then, I’m pretty biased against filtration.
The flavor is shockingly smooth, soft, lightly sweet and actually comforting on the palate. Silky chocolate, vanilla, mild roast and oaky, buttery, lightly grainy bourbon notes abound. Very, very well-attenuated; probably the best thing about the beer. A little bit more glue in the flavor, but all-in-all, this is probably one of the better filtered beers I’ve ever had. Incredibly drinkable for its size and for an artificially carbonated beer, I didnt find the carbonation loose or prickly. Very, very impressive. But for the glue, this would be a mid 4’s for me.

A 750ml bottle (with its fancy new graphics) bought from my local LCBO. A well done porter. Great rich smell of toasted malts, brown sugar and maple. Nice full fluffy tan head that slowly breaks down with lacing over a nearly opaque espresso-brown beer. The taste right up front with toasted malts, a touch of bitterness there, but the is a calm sweetness there to balance it out. Maple is mostly lost to me in the beer itself. A little vanilla, floating around there as well. While porters and stouts are really my thing, this one is well done, and worth a try.

A red copper ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, sweet chalky caramel malt with light pepper notes, green pepper, grassy hops. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity caramel malt with light grassy hops, peppery notes, interesting and balanced. On tap at Arrow and Loon.

Hazy, light amber. Lots of hop on the nose - piney with sticky marmalade. Taste is sticky marmalade, too, with some clean pale malts.

341mL bottle, pours black with a small beige head. Nose brings out dark fruits, roasted malt, and caramel malt. Flavour brings out caramel roasted malt and some dried dark fruit - great balance between the two. Carbonation is lively but nice enough, though the whole thing feels a bit dead in the mouthfeel. Solid beer, just nothing overly interesting.

On tap at Bar Volo, pours a hazy pale yellow with a tiny head. Aroma is pretty lemony, like quite a young Berliner, and wheat. Flavour is similar, with lightly tart lemony notes, wheat, and light citrus. A young beer, but highly drinkable. Good stuff.

On tap at Bar Hop, pours black with a small brown head. Aroma brings out shitloads of red wine and brett - they overtake the impie stout notes completely. Flavour is rather exquisite, bringing out a unique mix of red wine, brett and roasted malt. Huge, potent flavours, without being brutal at all. A slow sipper, but a treat.
