Description
The founding partners of Killarney Brewing Company have restored the old Killarney Mineral Water drinks facility to its former glory; it is now one of Ireland’s most exciting new independent craft breweries and tap rooms. Our unique layout and design oozes warmth with a meshing of old world charm and new world ambience: we pay homage to “old school” Killarney yet in a sleek, industrial setting. We specialise in the production of what we believe is Ireland’s finest range of craft beers. Additionally all our beers are named after local myths and legends, evoking emotions of all things Killarney.

Optisch sattes Gold im Glas, schöne Perlung. In der Nase dezent fruchtig, hefig, leicht tartig, Saison halt. Im Trunk stilrypisch würzig, leicht bitter, Aprikose, hinten trocken, passt.

Bottle shared at tasting. Opaque dark brown to black color, full sized a bit bubbly beige to tan colored head. Aroma and flavor are malts, brown malts, moderately bitter up front, firm bitter in the finish. Not a lot of flavor tbh. Don't get bourbon at all tbh. Meh.

Export stout - a 'category' somewhere in between dry stout and imperial stout, (overly) simply put - aged in bourbon barrels, by an Irish brewery I had not heard of yet; bomber shared by Meeki, cheers mate! Thick and foamy, yellowish beige, membrane-lacing, stable head, very dark chocolate brown robe - blackish, but with burgundy highlights. Aroma of coffee grounds, dark bitter chocolate, dry caramel, beef stock cubes, bourbon but subtle and background, hints of (cold) espresso, cinnamon, bayleaf and wet leather. Cleanish, sweetish onset, rounded with some dried prune and old raisin next to a slight umami edge (beef stock but only vaguely so), softishly carbonated with oily, slick mouthfeel; dry-caramelly, bitter black-chocolatey, toasted brown-bready middle, dryish and bitterish but still with some sweetness for balance, becoming more toasty bitter and eventually coffeeish-roasty in the finish while the caramelly effect lingers. The bourbon barrel remains a subtle layer of flavour, with bittersweet, lightly tannic effects but nothing overpowering; instead, a leafy hop bitterness jumps in (smoothly so) and complements the array of dark malt flavours more convincingly than the BBA treatment does. Quite subtle in that sense - and very old school, which is something I can certainly appreciate in any stout. Very solid and very Irish.

Barwa złota z mgiełką. Piana biała, drobno pęcherzykowa, tworzy wysoką, zwartą i trwałą strukturę. Pozostawia po sobie mnóstwo spienionych wysp.
W aromacie wyraźne nuty chmielowe, owocowe, trawiaste, kwiatowe, "perfumowane".
