Description
The Humblet family was in search of a site to build a new brewery & continue their tradition and long list of beers brewed by their father, Benoit Humblet.
In 2011, they discovered the farm of Bertinchamps, dating back to 1343, situated not far from Gembloux.

Although extremely old and decayed, the farm had stunning character, situated in an environment that equals its prestige. It was time for some rejuvenation and the renovation project began immediately. Almost 2 years of remarkable work and finally in March 2013 the brewing system was installed in the old barns. Ultra modern fermentation tanks of a capacity of 6.000HL, an astonishing contrast of modern technology and the farm dating back more than 7 centuries.

The triple in the Bertinchamps clichΓ© trinity, from a stout 50 cl bottle (which seems rather much for a triple) with a very simple, straightforward label. No spices used, apparently, so I have no reason to fear overt coriander this time. Irregular, moussy, lacing, light yellowish white head residing over a clear, warm orange blonde beer with quiet sparkling. Aroma of strong banana and bubblegum ester (isoamylacetate), dough, biscuit, pineapple, peach, clove- and even varnish-like phenols, flowers, white pepper, hint of whisky-like alcohol. Rounded, sweet fruitiness in the onset, emphatically banana- and fruit bubblegum-like, some peach and melon, bit sugary (white candi sugar!), medium tingling carb, smooth and supple mouthfeel, bit resinous, pale malt sweetness with a biscuity and caramelly layer on top of it, white candi sugar sweetness remaining, leading to a sweetish, but not cloying finish with clove-like spicy phenols and a soft, deep, dull, lightly leafy and herbal hop bitterishness which remains in the background; some warming liqueurish alcohol shows up as well, but not obnoxiously. The residual white candi sugar sweetness and prominent banana-bubblegum flavour linger. Well-rounded tripel, no obvious flaws, but too sweet and bubblegum-like, even tilted to the sugary side with not enough hop bitterness to balance it; a redundant beer, but I cannot blame these people for trying, of course, and I kind of like the simplicity of the bottle and label. Also better than their Blonde I had at Heeren Van Liedekercke a few years ago, though I can imagine that one has improved meanwhile too.

F: average white, not long lasting. C: cloudy yellow gold. A: malt, citrus, banana, floral, hops, yeast, hint of green pepper. T: sweet malt, banana, grassy hops, sugar, yeast, medium body, good carbonation, hints of pepper, bread and honey. Not bad but not my style, something is missing there.

Draft. A brown beer with a tram head. the aroma has notes of roasted malt, bread, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, malt, and alcohol leading to a dry finish.

F: almost no head. C: dark red brown. A: sweet malty, slightly smoked aroma, yeasty, molasses, brown sugar, a hints of mocha, sausage, bacon, figs and some wood. T: red-fruit sweet, sourish, fruity, like coffee, overripe fruits, some chocolate, medium body, soft carbonation, not big one but I like the difference from other of this style.
