Bottle at home. Pale yellow color, cloudy a bit, white head. Smell and taste wheat, citrusy, somewhat artificial, citrus peel. Meh. Doesn't really do it for me tbh.

American style pale ale by this new 'bierfirma' in Limburg, bottle from Drinkshall Geenen in Balen. Quite a strong gusher, took me a while to get into a glass properly. Eggshell-white, foamy, thick, large-bubbled, papery lacing, stable head, misty pale orangey-tinged golden robe with a diffuse suspension of yeast everywhere, perturbed by some loose strings of fine sparkling. Aroma of moldy old oranges, old bread, strawberry, peach jam, sweetclover, mandarin peel, damp straw, dry earth. Restrainedly ruity onset, crisp with quite bright notes of apricot and orange, subdued in sweetness, sharp in fizziness with very strong minerally effect; smooth bready, lightly caramelized maltiness, yeasty breadiness and old citrus peel- and dried bitter herb-like hop bitterness, resinous and long yet remaining altogether gentle (as intended in APA), but providing a dry, spicy finish with citrus peel aromatics. Some powdery, bready yeast accents linger. Needs cleaning up - a less yeasty version of this would come a lot closer to the intended APA style, and so would more 'brightly lit' New World hop aromatics. Still a pleasant enough, modern, enjoyable quencher though, at least more original and 'contemporary' than the uninspired tripels and blondes many other starting beer companies in this country come up with.

One of two first beers by this new contract brewer (brewing at Hofbrouwerijke), bottle from Drinkshall Geenen in Balen. Thick, snow white, mousy, cobweb-lacing, stable head on a hazy straw blonde beer with apricot tinge. Aroma of wet straw, banana peel, dried white bread, raw parsnip, halfripe pear, pumpkin flesh, sweet flowers, even a touch of basil leaves and a vague background accent of raw white cabbage. Crisp onset, fruity with banana, pear and pineapple impressions, fizzy carb, very minerally and a bit stinging at first but acceptable for a classic saison, smooth sweetbready maltiness with sharper cereally edges leading to a dryish finish with spicy phenols, drying floral and somewhat leafy hop bitterness and lingering breadiness. Ticks all the boxes for me as far as classic, Dupont-esque Belgian saison is concerned – but do not expect anything what Anglo-Saxons would call a ‘saison’ nowadays… One I certainly enjoyed, makes me look forward to the other Family Man beer I bought there.

Bottle at home. Clear orange golden color, full sized fairly quickly diminishing off-white head. Aroma is rather sharp citruspeel-ish, lime, lemon, yeast, coriander, possibly other herbs or spices. Flavor is similar: wheat, yeasty, some citrus, citrussy sharp-ish bitter. Average to medium body, medium almost firm carbonation. Mwah.

Bottle shared with tderoeck. Hazy golden colour, white foam. Lots of carbonation, notes of coriander, lemon peel, some pepper. Carbonation destroys a lot of the taste.
