Handpump at the brewpub. Pours slightly cloudy dark amber. Banana aroma, ripe and sweet. Taste is also sweet and fruity, but due to the handpump with an usual smooth texture for an IPA.

Nitro tap. Black with a small light tan hed that coats the glass. Aroma: dark roast, licorice, treacle. Taste has roasted malt, burnt caramel, singed cream, licorice. Grassy, slightly spicy bitterness. Like everything you want to be in draft Guinness. Lovely.

Tap. Cloudy amber with a small off white head. Aroma of biscuit caramel gentle Seville orange, earthy yeast. Rich, sweet and fruity with pears, peach and biscuit. Citrus flavours emerge from excessive earthy yeast. Dry finish with lingering bitterness.

Tap. Clear golden amber with a cream head. Aroma of gooseberry, biscuit, passionfruit - v sav blancy. Light bodied. Tastes as it smells with firm slightly spicy bitterness. Wouldn’t have minded just a little more sweetness. Refreshing, nice balance of fruity flavours but neither hoppy enough to be just about them or with enough presence to be wholly satisfying.

Tap at GABS. Pale gold with a white head. Aroma of sour dough, vanilla, candi sugar, pears is very inviting. Soft, slightly creamy mouthfeel. Taste is sweet with apricot, pears, slightly funky dough, mild spices but no bitterness at the end. Easy-going but classy refreshment.

Tap, GABS. Cloudy red with a pink tinged head. Slightly jammy cherries. Proper wheaty sourness that is juxtaposed rather than offset by any sweetness. A bit heavy on the cherries for the texture - perhaps the filter of cherries was a mistake but I couldn’t get upstairs to try it without. Refreshing. A version without a schuss would be very welcome.

From a 330ml bottle on 8/1/2010. Not much of a nose when first poured but once you start consuming there is a lot more to it. It’s quite floral, with a good dollop of honeyed sweetness (perhaps just a shade too much), followed by an appropriately slightly sour finish. A fairly decent, quite refreshing drop.

Oddly, a hazy amber color. Ginger and oranges reach out in the nose. Fairly tart mouth with oranges, cinammon and candy sugar. Med full bodied. Warming finish. Decent, but a bit unbalanced.

Lots of coffee, dark fruit and a touch of molasses. Dry, smooth body. Moderate coffee bitter finish. The best beer of the day in a sea of fairly mediocre offerings.

Draught at the brewpub. Clear mahogany colour. Roasty malt aroma. There’s some soapy hops over a clean fairly hard malt body. Well, it’s... roasty. Don’t know what more say.
