Description
Created in 2016 in Biarritz, La Superbe was born from our passion for homebrewing and our love for highly hopped juices. Inspired and attracted from the outset by New School breweries, it was towards IPAs / DIPAs that we quickly specialized.

After experimenting for a long time and stacking 20L brews in our kitchen, we are launching our first 500L brews in our small brewery in the Quartier de la Négresse in Biarritz in 2017. The Biarritz brewery sees the birth of all the first bottles of the permanent range of Brewery.

Quickly cramped, the second brewery was created in Anglet in 2018. Larger and more modern, it quickly allows us to push further experiments and to launch in parallel with the permanent range the very first cans in the summer of 2019 whose ephemeral recipes will be resolutely oriented towards hops and which are today our trademark.

440ml can from the brewery. Pours like black ink, dark brown bubbles that recede. Strong creamy chocolate and vanilla dessert aroma. Quite unctuous, rich, sweet and cakey.. big vanilla presence, creamy chocolate, grainy moments.. tastes like im drinking an entire chocolate cake. Pretty intense overall, was a struggle to drink the second half and gave up. Not really suitable for a 440ml can, a small serving is plenty.

330ml bottle at Les Collines Iduki after the French Divide. Hazed golden yellow, moderate white head. Some nice fruity exotic hop notes, more like a hazy IPA than a West Coast really. Good balance, gentle low-lying bitterness. Decent session haze.

Can at CBJ thanks to me. A light haze on this orange gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Light palate, a very mild dryness, good fine minerally carbonation. Light malts, a light creamy sweetness. Crisp pine. Hop spice starts to nibble. Light but bright hop fruits, spicy mandarin and orange, touches tropical fruits. Mild bitterness peeping through the persistent hop spice on the light finish. Nice. Has a good hop fruit freshness and a nice amount of spice.

Can picked up from Craftbeer webshop Parchim Germany. Consumed at home Friday 2nd May 2025 listening to Bob Mould - Here We Go Crazy. Tonight we had Souvlaki on the BBQ with Minty Potatoes, Fiery Mango Relish, Tsatsiki and and Salad. Similarity to the Kykao West Coast IPA that I had before, insofar as plenty of hoppy burps, similar appearance, this is a darker colour though. Pours murky dark gold edging towards amber, furiously hippy, citrus bitterness and despite being a NEIPA, it's dropped some of those characteristics. I like it.

Fast gone, white head; fully muddy beer looking like pressed mango or other orangey-yellow fruit. End of bottle solid deposit. Fresh lupulin, asafoetida, citrus, exotic fruit, and a serious load of resin. Fruity, perfect balance between sweet and bitter. Oranges and resin in the background - and the MF. Oil from orangerind. Very lightly astringent, and utterly slick from the hopoils, chewy. Good carbonation. Really good one. Balance is as seldom achieved for double IPA's.
