0.5l bottle from Rewe, Prager Strasse; Dresden. Crystal clear golden body, fleeting white head. Grainy, bit citric aroma. Lean, dry, tart, minerally taste, fully dried out, bitterish finish, bit metallic. Simply not enjoyable, the body's pretty bad.

Tap at the Schankhaus. Cola brown, somewhat fleeting off-white head. Sweetish raisin-driven aroma. Pleasant roasty, roasted nut touches, some raisins, smooth, soft body, ending dry, with a herbal bitterish finish. Bit of that nice roast in the aftertaste. A pleasant surprise really. Sure, East German Schwarzbier by all measures, but more complex and tasty than most. Okay with this one!

Tap at the Schankhaus. Lightly hazy pale golden body, off-white head. Bit cardboardy, soft, yeasty, plummy aroma. Lean, dryish, slightly soft, slightly tart taste, mildly yeasty, cardboardy, grainy, herbal, weird light touch of alcohol, not much bitterness. Pretty underwhelming to tell the truth, but not sure anyone (relevant) ever called Freiberger great.

Bottle from a local supermarket in Penig. Looks simple but good. Beer in the glass deep golden, nice small head. Starts mild, malty, modest dry. Some moldy notes. Finish with shy bitter hints, light metallical touch. Nothing special.

Bottle 50 cl. Pours a hazy, reddish amber with a small and lacing, off-white head. Delicious - and probably artificial - aroma of pink grapefruit. Medium body, lightly sweet grapefruit accents. Slight quinine like astringency. Neat and refreshing. 070226

Not a particularly complex beer. Yellow color with thin body and good carbonation. Taste is like water or minerals.
