27/3/2020. Bottle sample courtesy of danlo, cheers Ed! Pours clear very pale gold with a short lasting white head. Aroma of crisp green apples, citrus, wood, leather, light funky, soda and mineral notes. Light sweetness and moderate tartness. Moderate body, average carbonation. Nice tart and dry finish. Bit watery, but otherwise enjoyed this.

750ml bottle from Hawkes, London. Pale golden colour, short-lived white foam head and aroma of fruity apple, musty, woody. Taste is orchardy apple, fruity, leathery funk, some drying tartness, white wine hints, along with spicy woody notes. Medium bodied, low carbonation, dry tangy & tart finish. Very drinkable.

Bottle from Covenhoven. I recall having this when it first came into the market. Since then, this latest batch, some real cider fruit may have been integrated. Duvel glass. Clear, mellow gold body, touch of lace & gentle activity below. Smells of leafy bitterness & sweet, macerated grocery apples. Taste is bitter, grassy core. Green & rindy. Thin & acidic, it burns a little. Chewy, quickly fading middle. Chalk, popsicle sticks, white wine. Okay carbonation, hard for the ABV. An okay quaffer. Better early then left open & revisited. Wilderness is still so much better, but this is affordable.

Draft @ The Owl Farm. Wine glass. Very gold; clear. Smells of pears, sand & yeast, not apples. Taste is soft, yeasty laden apples. Tiny bit of tannic structure. Very pedestrian malic acid . No bitters. Soft powdered sugar throughout. Very meh. Mildly carbed, even for tap. Just too pedestrian & blase for a so called craft cidery.

On tap @ Covenhoven for NYC Cider Week. Clear, golden tulip of anticipatory nectar. Faint medicinal scent. Creamy apple nose. Taste is winey, acidic, faintly zesty & tannic. Watery, with a dusty dry finish, akin to ground spices. I couldn't pick out the tea in this one. Just okay.

On tap @ Covenhoven in BK. In bottle from Astor Wines. Clear, foamy, tinted berry body. Smell is a mix of grapes, apple skins & soft florals. Tap: Taste is hibiscus upfront, with mildly tart, forward apples. Creamy, low acid, very mild. Mellow tannins. Bottle: much more tart, moreso tannic, apple forward, no detectable hibiscus. Thinner body. The bottle is easily a 4, but the tap sadly is the rate.

Bottle from the now very meh WF Bowery. Gone is the once innovative & alluring beer room, replaced with yet another coffee cafe. 12oz bottle, pint glass pour. Clear, pale straw body. Sizzle then flat. Smell is tropical fruit, hand soap & black pepper. Light, mellow, acidic apple flavor. Minimal tartness/bite. Subtly carbonated. Leafy, mildly soapy hops. Soft & inoffensive all around. Middling.

From tap. Pours clearand golden pale yellow with a small white head. Aroma is butterish and herbal. Citric and fruity. Zesty apples. Dry and herbal finish.

From tap. Pours pale and clear yellow. Small white head. Aroma is dry zesty apples. Citric, bitter and zesty. Dry apples finish.
