Description
Law Brewing Co was born during December 2014 after leaving a research career in science of 25 years. A new challenge was required and a desire to take my home-brewing skills to the next level and, coupled with the lack of a local brewery in the City of Dundee it seemed a logical step to become part of the global craft beer revolution.

Law Brewing Co (est. 2016) is named after Dundee’s most distinctive landmark of 572 feet high; the ‘volcano-esque’ slopes of the Law. Its predominant feature is an extinct volcano formed around 400 million years ago and the name originates from either the Gaelic or Anglo-Saxon (hlāw) word meaning a ‘mound’. The modern word Law means ‘a principle governing action or procedure,’ and we aim to follow this and encapsulate an ethos and benchmark for producing high-quality beers in an ethical and sustainable manner.

Keg at BD Inverurie. It pours oily darkest brown to black with a small tan head. The aroma is warming spice, cinnamon, cloves, rich roasted malt, gateaux, nougat, apple pie, icing sugar and rocky road. The taste is smooth, bitter - sweet, rich roasted malt, nutty, chocolate, apple pie, warming spice, clove, cinnamon, maltesers, hint of acidity, coffee, hint of alcohol, nougat and rocky road with a roasty finish. Medium - full body and fine carbonation. Fun stuff. Drinks well, but perhaps would be better bigger with more body.

Can thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - dark brown with an off-white creamy head. Nose - cherry and honey. Bready backdrop. Taste - cherry, strawberry and burnt bread. Palate - medium bodied and a bit burnt or roasty on the finish. Overall - a bit strange but not so bad.

Cask At Speedwell, Dundee. It pours a warning golden hour with a thick, fluffy, lasting white head. The aroma is fresh, fragrant, floral, doughy white bread, biscuit and cereal. The taste is crisp, firmly dry, snappy, big floral hit upfront, honeysuckle, daisy, toasty grain, cereal, porridge, bready, snappy biscuit and a hint of melon with a drying finish. Medium body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Superb condition. Subtle initially, yet had a great depth when you give it some time.

Bottle from Balgove Larder. Dark brown body with a few chunks beneath a beige head. Low carbonation. Good lacing. Aroma of nuts, mashed strawberry and chocolate. Flavour of rust, chocolate and vanilla. Medium body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. It doesn’t look great with all the chunks, but it tastes fantastic.
