Law Brewing Co (est. 2016) is named after Dundee’s most distinctive landmark of 572 feet high; the ‘volcano-esque’ slopes of the Law. Its predominant feature is an extinct volcano formed around 400 million years ago and the name originates from either the Gaelic or Anglo-Saxon (hlāw) word meaning a ‘mound’. The modern word Law means ‘a principle governing action or procedure,’ and we aim to follow this and encapsulate an ethos and benchmark for producing high-quality beers in an ethical and sustainable manner.

Can picked up in Dundee. It pours darkest brown - black with a small khaki head. The aroma is sweet, rich roasted malt, milk chocolate, ripe jammy cherry, black forest gateaux and a touch of coffee. The taste is dry, rich roasted malt, bitter - sweet, earthy, slightly charred, jammy ripe cherry, black forest gateaux, dried berries and touch of tang with a smooth fruity finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Balanced and quaffable.

Can thanks to cgarvieuk. Appearance - golden orange with a decent off white head. Nose - orange and light confectionery. Taste - some irn bru notes, tangy orange sherbet. Palate - light bodied with a tangy and zingy middle and finish. Overall - ok, tried to carry off the Irn Bru thing and did not bad at that side.

Keg draught at BrewDog Leicester. Almost black with a slight reflection of light in the glass. Aroma of Graham craker, gingerbread, burnt molasses, a touch of soy. Sweet taste with lots and lots of ginger... too much for me but it does put me in the Christmas mood a bit! More soy and molasses notes in the finish. Intense and imperfect but also strangely moreish. A good beer.

Can from Luvians St Andrews. It pours hazy golden blonde with a hint of orange and fluffy white head. The aroma is sweet, soft, hearty doughy white bread, custard cream biscuits, grass, leafy, grain and cereal. The taste is crisp, dry, snappy, a touch of citrus zing & light acidity, upfront which dissipates, spicy, leafy, grass, herbal, some firm bitterness, cracker, biscuit and doughy bread in the backdrop with a dry finish. Average body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Nice classic helles snout, but wasn't expecting that zingy citric note at the beginning of the taste. Not bad.

Keg at Brewdog Kelvingrove. Pours black with a thin tan head. Aromas of christmas spice and chocolate. Taste is a bit heavy on the cinnamon for me. Earthy finish.
