Description
Artzner craft beer has a very long history. It dates back over two centuries. In 1882 to be exact, Pierre Hoeffel founded brewery Perle in Schiltigheim. In 1919: Charles Kleinknecht, brewing engineer, took over the brewery and in 1930, a new brewery was built. Just before the Second World War, production reached 300,000 hectoliters. In 1971, the brewery was closed and the buildings were demolished in the 1980s.

In 2009, Christian Artzner, great-great-grandson of the founder, paid his greatest tribute to this beer by bringing it back to life. In 2015, the Perle brewery officially opened in Strasbourg, at the Plaine des Bouchers, with a brand new production facility and beers "made in Alsace"

330ml bottle from Beery Christmas Advent Calendar - Day 9 - Clear copper-brown body, short lasting off white top. Nose is a lightly burnt fruit toast, with a brown sugar sweetness lingering there. Taste is fairly dry, some burnt bits and liquorice there, dried fruit and a bit malty.

Bottle shared. Bit hazy light golden with big white head. Sugary grains, flowery hops, fresh wet hop, pineapple, dried tropical fruits, very grassy and dank wet green notes. Quite sweet and medium bitter. Solid medium bodied. Quite sugary, but an interesting beer though not totally my style.

Solid schwarzbier. Very close to german style. But I would say this is a little bit worse. A bit muddled. But still quite crisp dry and clean. Beery xmas 2020

Beery xmas. Het smaakt wel Duits, maar dan meer een dunkel of een bock. Wel lekker koekjes en zoete mout, butterscotch. Maar niet het geroosterde van een schwarz. Qua smaak is het wel hele dikke prima
