Draft at ChurchKey poured into a tasting snifter. Pours a hazy pale yellow color with off-white head. Aromas of funk, citrus, wheat, and yeast. Tasting notes of funk, citrus fruit and peel, rye bread, yeast, floral notes, light spices. Thin mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Medium body with a dry finish. Don’t remember if I’ve had a rye saison before but this was pretty tasty.

Jack Rose, DC tap: Pours light golden with a white head. Aroma is citrus, grass, and I got some pine out of this as well. Anyway taste is moderately bitter and hoppy throughout. I didn’t find it to be too complex or interesting, but it was a plenty fine sessionable IPA.

Rich deep dark brown coloured body with a little ruby and copper tint and a nice, two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of bright english hops, a ton of pit fruits, some yeast and basement must and a lot of deep nuts and caramelised sugars. Full-bodied; Strong pit fruit flavours with a lot of nuts and earth, some mellow yeast and a touch of cherries with a light hop note at the very end. Aftertaste shows a good blend of malt and hops with a lot of earth and nuts, some pit fruits and a touch of deep bitterness. Overall, a nice strong ale with some nutty and earthy flavours and a good deal of bitterness. I sampled this pint on draught at Ironhorse Tap Room in Washington, DC on 23-December-2013.

On tap at the Big Hunt. Pours a hazy amber with some thin white head. Nose is mostly saison, candy sweetness, malt, grass, a little tart berry, slightly medicinal. Flavor is pretty much the same, lightly sweet, lightly tart, malt, a little nettle, some lemon, some mild berry. Clean finish. Cranberry didn’t jump out at me, but I didn’t mind either.

Draft. Hazy variegated reddish straw color, white head. Aroma of lightly funky and fruity barnyard hay. Taste has dusty and peppery straw, very sublte tart cranberries, medium dry finish. I love saisons with a reasonable abv so you can drink them and still stand up. Nice stuff.
