A World Cup Of Beers#25. LATVIA. An international brew with the football and this one is a deeper clear golden colour with plenty of visible carbonation. Mild orange fruit, mild herbal qualities, never really getting that flavoursome but the mouthfeel is quite nice in this attractive looking Baltic beer. Drank whilst watching the first quarter-final match - France vs Morocco.

Ruby-brown, with a thin, short-lived head. Aromas of rye bread and cheap cola; the taste features the light maltiness of a Czech dark lager, cheap cola, tart notes, and a hint of wort. Not too sweet and pleasant to drink.

A clear, copper-gold beer with a creamy head and moderate retention. A delicate, grainy aroma with notes of caramel and a hint of darker malts and hops, and a touch of yeast. Full-bodied, moderate carbonation, and a distinct herbal bitterness. The palate is malty, with a touch of burnt caramel, and a touch of sourness, with a slight barrel note. Pleasantly drinkable.

0.5 litre can from a local Eastern European store, drank at home with my evening meal (ham & veg) on 10th June 2026. It's bright pink and tastes and smells of strawberries. Pretty sweet.

Selver, Tallinn. 568ml can. Ruby colour, small steady beige head. Caramalt nose with some toasted maltyness. Light-bodied. Semi-sweet caramalt in the flavour, light toast, not much bitterness but reasonably clean. Tolerable industrial dark lager.

Smell-weak hops, faint malt.
Foam- thin, hops, bitter tones. Head is medium to large in color, and lightly orange-white in color.
Appearance- nice basic, classic-looking bottle, brewer bottle cap. Somewhat like it.
From - pint
Taste - weak hops, weak malt, nothing over the top, but ok sipper. For a good price, somewhat decent.

Bottle from Linda Shop, Burton on Trent (not listed on Brewver), drank at home. Pours a dark brown with a medium sized foamy cream head and good thick lacing. Aroma is malts, cereals, rye, and stale bread, plus hints of raisins and cocoa. In the mouth it is quite bitter, but with a creamy texture giving plenty of malty sweetness too. Flavour has bread, rye, malts and caramel. Finish is quite dry. This is quite nice – interesting and different. Similar to kvass but with an alcoholic kick behind it.
