Can from the Euro Food Centre, Banbury; the Latvian entry for our Eurovision feast. It's my first Latvian rate and only my second kvass. It's a dark brown, very fizzy and with an immediately vanishing head; ie it looks like cola. Taste is of dark rye bread, a hint of treacle and a lot of dark brown sugar; it's very sweet. It's also a little watery at times and there is a faint hint of sourness at the end. Not had enough kvasses yet to judge what makes a good one; I suspect this is not one of the best though. It's too sweet and definitely not as good as the first one I had, but I still quite liked it and want to try more of the style.

Turns out I had not rated this one. Smell-weak hops. Foam- thin, hops, weak malt. Head is large, white color. Sticks. Appearance- generic can. Clear yellow amber, few carbonation bubbles. From - pint Taste- weak hops, faint malt, quite a neutral lager. Not bad, but had better.

6/4/2020. Can from Beers of Europe, Kings Lynn. Pours hazy/cloudy very pale yellow gold with a fluffy white head. Aroma of sweet lemon cordial, lemon meringue pie, yellow starburst sweets and a slight edge of lime. Sugary sweet, merest hint of citrus tartness. Light body, oily and watery, average carbonation. It's actually quite drinkable if you accept it for what it is.

Appearance: clear bright golden with a moderate white frothy head of medium retention. Aroma: grain, restrained fruitiness. Taste: light sweet, purely fermented, malty. Some grassy hop. Light ending hop bitterness. Mouth feel: light to medium body, average carbonation. Overall: OK for what it's supposed to be.

Can scans as A Le Coq from Estonia but clearly says it’s Cesu Alus from Latvia 🤷♂️ Nice, moderately sweet cider.
