Light yellow color, short head. Aroma is german pilsner like, skunky. Taste is like cardboard, weak and watery.

I have to say this beer adds some taste to the original Amstel pilsener, which wasnt one of my favorites. But this beer has a more strong taste, at least for a pilsener. I like it!

Bottled. Clear yellow color, short head. Soft hoppy aroma. Bit sweet, bit bitter taste. Not bad for a low alcohol pilsener.

A few years back a buddy of mine went to San Diego. I told him to see if he could find some local brews for me, you know, like AleSmith. He brings back Amstel Light and Pete's Strawberry Blonde. Some bloody friend, eh?

Unimpressive - I think marketed as a quality import for American beer drinkers who don't know any better. Mostly bland, and not really very good tasting either.

A final update. I think I was too generous in my treatment of the non-skunked version of this. I recently had a chance to sample some really fresh draft, from one of this 5L minikegs they sell. It did have the nice creamy feel of good fresh draft, but the distint sulfuric aroma and flavor, coupled with a general wateriness, just forget about it. Any number of domestic pale lagers are preferable to this.

Probably the first time I’ve had it since they went back to being all-malt. Well, maybe not because I had the Thai version and it seemed structured to local tastes. Anyway, here’s what I’ve got: medium gold colour, whispy head. Grassy aroma with faint fusel alcohol. More high alcohol notes, very light malts, equally light hops. Off-dry finish. I was actually expecting better, but the burn of the higher alcohols is a very Thai characteristic and really sucks.
