Bottle. Called an IPA for some strange reason. Amber color. Malt, dust and a hint of caramel in the aroma. Malty sweetish caramelly roasty flavor. Hints of ash and alcohol. Relatively well hopped, so that should confirm the IPA claim...not!

Clear deep amber colour, good frothy off-white head, good retention, heavy lacing. Aroma mild roasted malts, dark fruits, candy sugar, light liquorice, some alcohol. Taste light heavy sweet and light to medium bitter, malty, roasty, spices, sugar. Malty sweetbitter aftertaste, spicy, warming alcohol, full-bodied, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Bit odd definitely not an IPA, spiced (without being a spice beer) and feeling unbalanced.

0.33 l bottle from ’Speciaalbierpakket.nl’ at 9% abv, best before June 2018. Clear, dark amber with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, off-white head. Sweetish, slightly fruity and spicy aroma of pear and clove. Quite sweet, moderately fruity and slightly spicy taste of caramel, pear, clove and some honey, followed by a medium long, moderately bitter, rather yeasty-spicy and a little peppery finish. Above medium-bodied, slightly creamy and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Quite refreshing, doesn’t feel like 9%, not an IPA though.

(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 25 Feb 2017) Amber colour with big, lasting, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with caramel, treacle-toffee and orange peel. Malty, fruity taste with notes of caramel, toffee, dried fruit, orange peel and a sweetish finish with a mild bitterness. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and well balanced. Quite nice.
