Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol 16/10/2022. Copper-red in colour, with a thin, off-white, head. red berries, toffee notes, a touch of toastiness in the ripe malts, leafy hops and a moderately bitter finish. Good.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up From Sainsbury’s. Pours clear copper with a creamy, off-white head. Moderately sweet, some toasted grains, a little caramel, English yeast, mild leafy bitterness. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Decent balance to finish, more leaves, toasted malts, mellow berry notes. Not bad.

1/3 pint, festival beer, cask at Joseph Else (JDW). Shared with Finn. Dissipating beige head, deep ruby body, clingy lacing. Bread-like malts on the nose, scent of caramel. Malt-forward flavours of liquorice, dark caramel and a bite of dark fruits. Bittersweet tail. Quite pleasing (Nottingham 12.10.2022).
