Cask at Old No 7, Barnsley January 2015. Pours clear ruby dark brown with a tan head. Aroma: dark malts, fruit cake, dried fruits, Christmas spices. Taste: moderate sweet & bitter, fruit pudding/cake, dried fruits, citrus rinds, spices. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Cask at Hops, Crewe Drunk this many times before, but not reviewed it. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small beige head. Nose is predominantly coffee with traces of liquorice. Flavour has roast malts, chewy liquorice, dark chocolate and alcoholic strength, together with hints of ginger. Despite all this flavour, it does seem to be a bit watery. Finish is dry and boozy. A very good strong stout.

Cadk handpull at Fat Cat Sheffield. Clear amber colour lasting cream head. Nutty flavour. Good condition. nutty malty. I thought very good. great to have a different hop flavour. good bitterness. dry. love an Acorn beer. another cracker.

Cask at Helter Skelter, Frodsham. Pours a brownish red / amber with a tight cream head. Has a nice simple malty aroma. Malts again dominate in the mouth, together with some fruits and caramel, to give a sticky texture. Finish is bitter-sweet. Not a complex beer, but a top quality one ! [ rather than a bitter, I would call this an “Irish red”, but I’m not sure if RB recoignises that style]

Cask @ Crown and Kettle, Manchester. Pours ruby amber with a small White head. Soft toffee and biscuit. Super smooth. Awesome malts. Delicious quaffer. Super condition.

Cask @ Calans, Hebden Bridge. Golden with a creamy head. It has a strength to it with subdued sugars, except in its nose where a hoppiness compliments a full-bodied blandness.
