A lot has changed since the first drop of Carlsberg was shipped to the UK in 1868, and the first Marston's beer brewed in Wolverhampton in 1875 - but our founders' dedication to bringing people together through better beer burns as brightly as ever.

Carlsberg Marston’s Brewing Company is one of the newest, historic brewers in the UK. Formed out of a joint venture between Carlsberg UK and Marston’s PLC, who are both shareholders, we combine over 300 years of shared values, history and heritage in UK brewing.

440ml can. Pours golden with a nice white head. Aroma of wheat and hay with a hint of sweetness. Taste of malt, sweet sugar, cereal. A little gassy. Not a bad premium lager actually for the price and well balanced, maybe lacks some subtle notes but you would pay more for that. A very good cheap option.

[44cl can from my local Co-Op, all they had left due to a sudden heat wave.] Pretty much a standard Euro-lager, pale amber with a loose white head; sweet aroma with a whiff of corn syrup; quite malty taste; and a harsh grassy finish. Refreshing, but so is cold water.

660ml bottle. Pours a dull gold with a decent white head. Not much aroma although a slight nose of sweetened malt. Taste is similar with a not unpleasant mild sweetened malt flavour but a little dull. Mild carbonation. Goes down very easily so a decent larger choice on a sunny day if you don’t want anything complex. Update: tried again and enjoyed slightly more than the above would suggest. I think it is one of the better commercial pale lagers in the UK although still lacks some flavour.

Standard 'sweet lager' smell greets you upon popping the cap, pours a dark straw colour with a small, foamy white head. The taste is slightly malty with a hint of bitterness, and it's a pretty refreshing beer to enjoy cold on a sunny day, but has no memorable qualities really

On 23rd Jan 2020 I decided to change all my 34 'ticks' for no-beers into rates. Every 'tick' scored a '3', this will not change as they become 'rates'. My 'ticks' were Ciders, Meads, Perrys and Sake. This is a cider!
