Sainsbury's Own, Night In Trio Of Ales#2. A little bit darker this time, and it is a darker amber coloured beer. Traditional in design, there's a few fruity caramels in here, which do linger in its aftertaste, but not enough to escape being quite a dull effort with a light bitter character. There's a lot better winter warmer ales around in style too.

Sainsbury's Own, Night In Trio Of Ales#1. The lightest of my three choices tonight and it's a good hoppy session to start. Slightly darker golden it has an easy, smoothish slick texture. Its hop is perhaps not at its most fruitiest in this instance, and a more dominant light-bitterness exists, but this is flavoursome enough, with a modicum of citrus in its background.

Bottle. Nose is Belgian yeast Esther, fruity, strawberry, wheat, lightly herbal. Taste is banana, cloves, hint of bubblegum, citrus, herbal hop, with a hedgerow slightly medicinal finish.

500ml bottle from Sainsbury's, Chester. Hazed orangey pinkish golden colour, short-lived fizzy white head and aroma of tinned peach, apple. Taste is sweet, peachy, appley, syrupy, jelly crystals, with some citric acidity. Medium bodied, high carbonation, sweet finish. OK, very sweet.

A straw-coloured beer with a thick, white head and a herbal aroma with a hint of citrus. Medium body and carbonation. The flavour offers a touch of exotic fruit, herbal bitterness, and a hint of lemon juice. Overall, it's very drinkable and refreshing.

500ml bottle from Sainsburys, Darlington. Fluorescent purple-pink colour, bubbly foam head that quickly dissipates away and aroma of jelly babies, strawberries & lime. Taste is sweet, strawberry daiquiri, sugary, with some citrusy lime. Medium bodied, high carbonation, sweet citric finish. OK, very sweet.
