Description
Our beers are made of passion and knowledge, culture and innovation, memories and visions of endless worlds real and futuristic.

Giovanni Campari founded Birrificio del Ducato together with two other partners. Giovanni is still the brewmaster of the brewery, which officially began the production of craft beer on March 27th 2007 in Roncole Verdi, Busseto (PR). The historic production site was transformed into Sour Brewery in 2015, when we transferred the main brewery to the new headquarters in Soragna (PR). Here we produce the main beer lines, through a fully automated system, which includes advanced PLC controls and centrifugal separator. The brewery currently has a 60-hl 5-vessel brewhouse and a total cellar capacity of 1200 hl.

At the end of 2016 Duvel Moortgat acquired 35% of the shares of the brewery. In 2018 Duvel Moortgat acquired 70% of the brewery’s shares, investing its resources in a new laboratory and in a new bottling line.

Bottle. Brown color. Vinous aroma with aceto Balsamico. Sour flavor, vinous, aceto balsamico, dry, in spite of the caramel. Hint of roast.

(Bottle) Pale golden colour with brief, bubbly, white head. Fruity, sourish nose with notes of lemon juice, grapefruit, green apples, barnyard and a touch of vinegar. Fruity, tart taste with lemon, apple cider, sour green grapes, unripe pineapple, a touch of vinegar and a dry and tart finish. Medium body, dry. Tart and refreshing, but a bit one-dimensional. Nice one.

330ml bottle. Cloudy, redd-ish, orangey golden colour with small, frothy, fading, white head. Full-blown raspberry aroma with fruit acidic, sweet-ish pulpy, and earthy-leafy aspects, lactic background with a touch of mild sauerkraut, cautious oaky overtones. Taste is tart, fruity, minimally lactic, notes of raspberry with focus on fruit acidic aspects, a touch of mild sauerkraut, cautious oaky overtones, a touch of raspberry vinegar. Oily-watery texture, minimally astringent palate, prickly carbonation. Very refreshing, quite rich for its relatively low abv - and raspberry is simply my favourite fruit admixture in pale beers.

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with a corona of tan bubbles. Peaty Whisky aroma, chocolately dark malty background, hints of dark chocolate, couverture, cocoa, vanilla, caramel, chocolate cookies. Taste is Whisky dominated, slightly dry, peaty and woody, chocolately, dark malty background, hints of dark chocolate, minimally alcoholic finish. Oily texture, soft to flat carbonation. Nice nose is full of subtleties, rather disharmonious, un-integrated taste.

Bottled, from Systembolaget. Black with rich beige head. Aroma of chocolate brownie. Sweet with medium to full body and clean, rounded mouthfeel. Chocolate mud cake dominates completely. Peppery finish. Simplistic and pastry-ish.
