Description
"Founded in the summer of 2011 in Beijing, Slowboat has gradually developed from a pilot brewery located in the mountains on the outskirts of Beijing to one of the pioneering brands in the field of craft beer in ChinaHe has won many awards in the competition. Adhering to the brewing spirit of "small batches, high standards", from the iconic "Monkey Fist IPA" to a variety of seasonal beers, each one is an infinite exploration of creativity, a persistent pursuit of quality, and an affectionate tribute to the art of craft brewing.
Slowboat is not only committed to brewing craft beer with excellent taste and highlighting local culture, but also integrates high-quality pure American cuisine into the soul of the brand. He has carefully developed a number of fan-favorite burger series and has won the Burger Cup six times. As of 2024, Slowboat has five offline stores - Sanlitun Brewery, Maizidian Brewery, Dengshikou Dining Bar, Baita Temple Dining Bar, and Shichahai Dining Bar. Among them, the Sanlitun store has been on the Dianping must-eat list for five years, and the Shichahai store is the first choice for holding wine head takeover activities, which together constitute the atmosphere of Youhang's unique food and beer culture.
Welcome to Slowboat for a journey about life and dreams. Good wine, good food, good friends!"

Very malty and subdued for a red IPA. Much more like an amber ale. Hops need to be cranked for this beer.

Overly sweet cloying nose with artificial chocolate notes. The mouth shows some off putting character. Shit.

Aroma has hops with sweet, tropical fruits. Flavour has fruity hops, gluey tones, grapefruit and mellow gooseberry bush tones. Finishes with lingering hops and herbal tones. Quite good.

Aroma is musty with some weird sugary tones. Feels like some sweet belgian ale. Flavour has strong grassy hops, herbal tones and some mint. A lot better than I expected.
