We’ve produced quality beers over the years by challenging and refining our craft, not by appeasing trends. Discerning taste, rolled up sleeves, and upholding our uniquely progressive ideals ensures our drinkers will appreciate Upland beers as much as we do. Many of our brews are unique twists on traditional recipes, while others are creations of our own imaginations. At our brewpubs and tasting rooms in Bloomington, Columbus, Carmel and Indianapolis, flavor, discourse, debate, laughter, and conversation flow as freely as our beer.
Upland Brewing Company was founded in 1997 by Marc Sattinger, Russ Levitt and Dean LaPlante. In 1998, distribution of bottles and kegs began and the brewpub opened its doors. In 2006, ownership changed hands to a group of local investors remains 100% family owned. Pours gold with a two finger white head that laces a bit. It smells of tropical fruit and biscuity malt. The flavor is moderately bitter with pleasant tropical fruit notes and smooth malty sweetness. This is a refreshing, easy drinking, but still hoppy beer.

2018 bottling Small disappearing whitish rim over clear orangey golden beer. Cookies and baked fruit, apricot/peach filling or persimmon. Paw paw doesn't get into Belgium. Very sour, lactic acid² and some fruitacids. Persimmon is very credible, peach, apricot, mango, quite fruity character. In the very background, again this baked cakerind. Acidburn and -thinning. Feels better carbonated than it looks. OK. American style sour, just don't think it's real lambic.

Can, from Jewel Osco, Chicago. Pours clear dark yellow/orange with a large foamy beige head, very faint piney aroma, adequate carbonation, bitterish orange peel taste, piney flavor, thin smooth body, long bitter finish. Nice classical American IPA.

Kinda cheap single from Blue Door in Hendo. Clear Solo cup at home after some chill time. Rinsed out my glass with some free boxed Red Cross water. Big cocoa head, nice cascade over a brown on black body. Roasty sweet, high alpha, strong bittersweet chocolate, kinda Stone-ish. Roasty earth, patent, bright acidic hops, some grapefruit, constant roast on the verge of burnt, very old school. Smooth & a little thick, wouldn't pin this for 10%. Nicely done.

Can. Pours cloudy lemon yellow with floating dark yellow precipitates, small foamy whitish head, faintly citrusy malt aroma, high carbonation, mildly bitter malty taste with tropical fruit flavor, faint citrus, thin body, long finish. Refreshing.
