Description
The Budelse Brouwerij (Budels Brewery) is a family business that still values the traditions that have guided the brewery for centuries now. It's been at the very heart of the village of Budel in Brabant since 1870. Founded 150 years ago by Gerardus Arts as Brouwerij de Hoop (the Hope Brewery). Today, the fourth generation of the Arts family is at the helm and we are just as committed to the brewing as our ancestors.

Bottle. Deep golden, clear, moderate white head. Average retention. Notable lacing. Candy, sugar syrup, strong wine on nose. Medium body. Oily texture. The flavour unveals malty sides of grains, candy, wine with proper bitterness from hops & alco. Very well rounded mouthfeel. Bittersweet long ending. Same aftertaste. Good (at least).

Bottle. Dark brown, bronze highlights. Weak off-white head. Low retention. Smells of caramel, toast, some dry fruit. Light body. Oily texture. Tastes sweet with notes of toast, caramel, sweet malt, minimal roast. Low bitterness. Not bad for that ABV.

0.3 l bottle from ’Mitra’ (Beukenweg, Amsterdam), best before September 2016. Clear, golden yellow with a thin, frothy, almost stable, white head. Sweetish-malty, slightly grassy and a little fruity aroma of straw, honey, popcorn, some butter and hints of citrus. Sweetish-malty, sligthly grassy and minimally fruity taste of caramel, honey, popcorn, butter, straw, some iron and hints of citrus, followed by a short, slightly grassy-bitter, rather metallic finish. Medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Tastes like very cheap stuff, contains some off-flavours and is way too sweat. Not really a treat.

30 cl bottle @ home. My first ever Radler (and quite possibly my last). Pale yellow color, hazy. White head with no retention. Aroma’s: from the glass it’s a bit weird, grain/grass, light vegetal, skunky, citrus fruit. Retronasal it’s malty sweet, fruity sour, a bit perfumy, somewhat like Napoleon lemon-sweets. Flavor is rather sweet with a lemony sourness. Light bodied.

Clear golden colour, good frothy white head, good layer of foam remains, nice lacing. Sweet malty aroma, bread, grain, grassy and floral hops, hint of citrus. Clean medium bitter taste, slightly sweet. Medium body, average carbonation, oily texture. Nice crisp lingering bitterness with some sweet accents, nice pilsner.
