Description
The Budelse Brouwerij (Budels Brewery) is a family business that still values the traditions that have guided the brewery for centuries now. It's been at the very heart of the village of Budel in Brabant since 1870. Founded 150 years ago by Gerardus Arts as Brouwerij de Hoop (the Hope Brewery). Today, the fourth generation of the Arts family is at the helm and we are just as committed to the brewing as our ancestors.

Drank as Budels Lentebock Clear deep-golden beer with a medium, rather shortlived yellowish head. Caramel & slightly grassy, not much going on in the nose. Caramel and grassy/herbal, but quite expressively in the mouth. Sweet, but not overly so. In fact, quite nice Heller Bock. Even a bit spicy/peppery. Medium bodied, bit gristslick, one seems to have something under the teeth. Feels better carbonated than it looks. All in all, not half bad.

Beautiful golden colour with a thin white head which disappears rather quickly. Soft carbonation. Light floral aroma, sweet malts, and hops. And something that reminds of boxes, but this gives way to the smell of straw. Rather sweet flavour, malts, hops, straw. Tea biscuits. Hoppy taste lingers for a while. (bottle 30cL)

330ml bottle, as Budels Lentebock, gift from Finn, thanks. Deep, golden body under a thin, white layer. Sweet and dry smell of pale malts. Sweet caramel malts and bland fruits in flavour. Together with noticeable alcohol the beer feels sticky sweet and metallic. Possible to drink, though (Tromsø, 16.04.2011).

Light flavoured beer with a hint of aniseed and clove. Sweet finish. Quite well rounded and easy to drink without being particularly spectacular.

Bottle at Arendsnest. Clear deep red brown beer with a good pale tan head. Creamy malt nose. Softish palate. Softish creamy malt. A little nutty with subtle fruit and a whisper of bubblegum. Semi soft and semi dry finish. Just a nice nutty malt beer that hangs together really well.

Bottle from Alko. Poured dark golden with a thin head. Aroma is weird, rotten fruit and vegetables. Flavor is quite horrible, somewhat fruity at first, then strong harshness. Almost undrinkable.

Flaske 0,33l fra Alko Muonio. Gyldenbrun. Raskt fallende skum. Svak maltpreget aroma. Smaken veldig vassen. Litt mandler. Antydning til litt syrlig bitterhet i avslutningen. Kjedelig. KI=4

On tap at Arendsnest. Clear deep gold beer, good off white head. Light semi dry palate. Sweet malt, somewhat tripel like. A little dried fruit adds some variety. Semi dry finish. Fresh tasty beer.

Small snowwhite head over totally clear golden beer. Slightly oppressive vegetable nose, greenmalt. Cornflakes in old milk following behind. More of the above in the taste, with old, oxydized cookies on top. And I keep searching for those "noble hops with pleasing bitterness and delicate aroma" from the label. Watery beer with a pappery slickness backthroat. Very poor indeed.
