Pours black with good head. Pretty good balance. Big bitterness at the finish. Roast, light bourbon. Nice stuff actually. Tap at snally.

Had at Snallygaster. Poured a slightly hazy orange color with a medium sized white head. Aroma was big orange, light tropical fruit notes. Floral, bitterness. Nice malt notes to even this out a bit.

Hoppy pils, except it’s not all that hoppy, so I’m not getting a real West Coast vibe. Cracker malt and a touch of grainy sweetness, with a fairly normal flora bitterness on the back end. A perfectly good pils, just not registering as a particularly hop-forward one.

Snallygaster: black with beige head. Aroma is chocolate, pastry. Spicy, sweet. Large but not too boozy.

Not sure what an “Appalachian-Style” IPA is, but it makes for an interesting pint. Moderate notes of citrus and tropical fruit sit atop a mild caramel and cracker middle, with a bitter, piney finish laced with minerals and a hearty rye spiciness. Gets a touch vegetal as it warms. Not bad.
