12 ounce can from Wegman's Charlottesville, 7/22/22. Predictably red, clear, thin fizzy tan head, average retention. Aroma of berry, tart apple. Taste is tart and sweet berry, lemon, apple. Juicy, bright, hi carb. Solid.

On tap @BR AVL. Feb '22. Taster glass. Clear, pale gold like all the rest. Yeasty, cracker nose. Clammy, mostly flat, hard water, salt, crackers. Really doughy finish. Like literally bread yeast. It's bad.

On tap @BR AVL. Feb '22. Taster glass. Clear, dark, maroon sort, lingering lace. Wow, it isn't pale for once. Generic sharpness, whiskey, cream. Unexpected nose. Taste is lots of smooth whiskey & only hints of berry. Apple tannins, some sharp acid clinging to my mouth. Buttery booze. Hot for 7%, low carb, barely sweet. Quite good. Very surprised.

On tap @Bold Rock AVL. Feb '22. Taster pour. Clear, pale gold color like most all the rest; lingering ring of lace. Obvious pedestrian donut roast coffee nose with some perceived acidity. Sweet, sugary apple base, low acid, okay tartness. Really good pronounced but not burnt coffee. Strangely okay.

Half liter corked bottle from their AVL taproom. Baby Duvel @home. Clear, frothy, oily gold. Strong smell of fake vanilla, margarine & pear. Not appetizing. Taste is bitter apples, fake vanilla, plastic & some unknown ugliness. The fake-ness is overpowering. Frothy, perfect abv. No notice on the label about added ingredients. Why?

500ml bottle from BoldRockAVL. Stemless wine glass @home. Clear, oily, gold. Sweet pear florals. Very floral. Tangerine. Super faint vanilla. Apple, pear, grape, rosewater sangria. About 75% as sweet as their typical stuff. Good acidity & lingering tartness. Reminds me of AeppelTreow. Slick, a little syrupy, decent carbonation, hidden abv. Has it's place.

Single from their AVL taproom. Clear, bright, pale pink, sparkling. Like cheap rosé. Smells of grape must, perfume, Seven Up, preservatives, burning sugar, plastic; Stuffy. What does the color pink tastes like? Taste is Seven Up citrus flavor, malic acid, extra sugar, cheap wine, something resembling a little watermelon rind, bitter something, preservatives. There's a certain foulness that reminds me of Woodchuck. Syrupy sweet, soda consistency & carbonation. If you drink it fast enough it isn't that bad. Is that a positive? Not even trying.

Crowler for $2 at JRs, nice find. Pinkish yellow orange. Clear, no head. Mild sweet fruity smell, almost nonexistent, can't really tell if its watermelon or not. First taste is rather friendly, no hint of artificial favors in this one. Good co2 considering this crowler was canned on the 8th. Goes down way too easy, I don't think I can sense any alky in this what so ever. A little scary, you may drink a ton of this before you know what hit you. Lots of unfermented sugar in this one. Comes across more like a soda pop. Smooth, bubbly and easy fer sher. Whew. Quite tasty and refreshing to boot. Good co2 sizzle on its way down the gullet. Quite likeable overall. I'm thinking jolly rancher hardtack candy on this one. I'm not a fan of watermelon brews but this stuff is probably one of the best watermelon brews I've ever had. Nice job BR! I just hope the combination of sugar and alky doesn't annoy my tummy. Not bad. I'm diggin it.
