Description
Barrier Brewing Co. is the collaborative effort of brewers Evan Klein and Craig Frymark, located in Oceanside, NY. Brewing their first batches on a 1bbl system (2 kegs at a time!) in June 2010, the two expanded the business to a 5bbl brewhouse in June 2012 which operated for four short months before being severely damaged by Hurricane Sandy. After several months of rebuilding, Barrier reopened in late-February 2013. The brewery currently produces nearly 50 different beers throughout the year totaling 1500bbl annually, all of which is self-distributed throughout the NY metro area.

Can to lager glass.
Appearance: cloudy copper color with a two and a half fingers of white foamy head which dissolved nicely to leave some spotty lace
Aroma: citrusy hops, danky hops, a light peppery note and some clean malts
Flavor: meshes the prior noted aromas together fairly bittersweet with a keen malty underneath; light finish of dry citrusy hoppiness and that peppery note
Texture: light to medium bodied, sessionable; fairly smooth along the tongue with some hop assertiveness along with some dryness
Overall: an extremely well done dry hopping did this lager quite well and though I'm sad I am done with my Barrier beers for now, I hope to eventually find more.

Can to lager glass.
Appearance: semi-cloudy burnt yellow color with a two and a half fingers of white foamy head which slid off nicely to leave some light lace.
Aroma: citrusy hops, super light tropical fruity hops, some melon/honeydew -ish sort of hoppy tone underneath with a very nice clean malty backbone
Flavor: combines the prior noted aromas very nicely to fine bittersweet and malty backbone; finishes with the tropical fruity to melon-y hops
Texture: light to medium bodied, sessionable; some smoothness along the tongue, hop assertiveness is extremely faint
Overall: lovely IPL I wouldn't mind coming back to.

Bottle to tulip.
Appearance: glossy burnt yellow with more of an orange hue to it in the center; two finger white foamy head which slid off nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: rye spicy and rye floral qualities are up front with some light tropical fruity hop tones in the back; mild bready malts
Flavor: blends all the prior noted aromas together in a mostly sweet sort of way then a touch of some hop bitterness backs it up with some balance; finishes with the rye and some tropical fruity hops
Texture: medium bodied, good as a sipper; some smoothness but also some rye spicy brashness hitting the tongue as I expected
Overall: nicely done Rye DIPA I would definitely have again.

Can to tulip.
Appearance: burnt golden color with a sly transparency; a one and a half fingers of white foamy head sat on top and took it's time to dissipate; once that happened lots of messy sticking lace clung to the glass
Aroma: strong danky hoppy resinous character, peachy sweet flesh, and grapefruit hoppy sweetness; mild clean malts
Flavor: very nicely done bittersweet blend of the prior noted aromas; finishes grapefruity, peachy and resinous
Texture: medium bodied, leaning towards being a sipper; some smoothness and a light hop sting but the hop sting seems pretty faint for the most part
Overall: very nicely done DIPA well worthy of coming back to.

Can to becher glass.
Appearance: yellow in color with a subtle transparency about it - mostly closer to the edges; one finger white foamy head slid off nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: fresh lemon hoppiness; sweet grassy hops, subtle piney hops; clean cracker/biscuity malts
Flavor: combines the prior noted aromas together in a semi-fresh sweet to slightly bitter blend; finishes nice between the lemony tones and the piney hop tones
Texture: light to medium bodied, good sessionability; fairly smooth along the tongue but some light hop assertiveness
Overall: mostly a pretty good APA I could have again.

From Ingelheim, Stumpf Getränkmarkt, best before 05/25, serving this beer yesterday, before to sleep, at home. Right and rather classical ipa, this one is dry, malty, oat, herbal note, dry tropical note, citrus and bitter, carbonated.
