From tap. Pours hazy brown with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malty and breadish. Toasted, breadish and caramelish. Bitter, toasted and malty finish.

Dark reddish orange 1 finger off white head. It’s a nice aroma with some fruits and caramel. the taste is strangely tart. lots of berries, fruit and vanilla with a bit of oak and wine. ABV is very well hidden in this one. good mouthfeel and finish.

Draft @ BCTC, Ommegang Brewery. Dark brown ruby in color, no head to speak of. Aroma is all kinds of strong dark fruits .
The flavor is figs dipped in sugar, raisins, dates with candy sugar syrup. Speaking of syrup, the texture is just tha; sticky and sweet. This could get nice over time but as is: cloying. Maybe with some age it would smooth out, as is hard to drink. Especially hard to drink on a warm summer afternoon and a beerfest.

Draft @ BCTC, Ommegang Brewery. Hazy bright yellow, thin head. Aroma shows Tangerine, nectarines, lemons.
The flavor is nicely tart and mildly lactic. Sour wheat in the backend with a dry texture. Light fruits that are found in the aroma with the light tart character. This was a nice but a standard example of the style.

Draft @ BCTC, Ommegang Brewery. Off orange color. Flavor shows bready, Belgian yeast that gives fruit notes. Medium in body with very light notes of citrus. Was kind of underwhelmed with this one.

At the brewpub, this was poured into a nonic pint glass.
The appearance was a dark brown color with a light transparency about it. Carbonation could be seen rising to fill a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than thirty seconds leaving some foamy lacing in a messy way.
The smell had a semi-sweet dry roasty nuts, caramel, toffee and a light cocoa combining into a light sharp resin.
The taste took all of those previously mentioned flavors to combine initially and then as it warms more resin starts to kick into a decent little hop bite. Lingering resin and nuts lead into the aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body so it becomes pretty sessionable. Carbonation comes across fairly smooth and allows the resin to be the bitterness over my tongue.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good American Brown Ale, hopheads might even like it.

This was served in a nonic pint glass, wishing they would have put this in a tulip.
The appearance was a hazy mahogany color with a slim transparency about it. Carbonation was seen rising at a moderate pace to fill a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than about forty seconds.
The smell had a restrained cooked malts over some light spice.
The taste was mainly spicy trying to bring in a slight breadiness but even that stays mainly subdued. A slight spicy aftertaste leads to a semi-dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation seemed fine for the style and for me. Bitterness is there but not overbearing.
Overall, I say this was okay for the style and for me. A part of me was hoping for a bit more fruitiness or even some Belgian sweetness, but it’s decent.

Keg at the brewpub. Pours clear gold with a white foam head. The nose has some mild citrus, dried pale malts, hay. Medium sweet flavor with light perfume, flowers, orange peel and pine needles. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Lightly drying on the finish with mellow floral bitterness and malty sugars. Good one.

Keg at the brewpub. Pours clear, reddish brown with a beige cream head. The aroma holds light roast, coffee and toasted pine. Medium sweet flavor with nice floral and piney hops, moderate earthy bitterness, cocoa, slight espresso. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Good balance on the finish, slight piney resins, more toast, cocoa and pine. Solid.

Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Finishes nicely with decent balance, more bread and subtle Belgian yeast. Not bad.
