At the brewpub, this was poured into a nonic pint glass.
The appearance was a dark brown color with a light transparency about it. Carbonation could be seen rising to fill a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than thirty seconds leaving some foamy lacing in a messy way.
The smell had a semi-sweet dry roasty nuts, caramel, toffee and a light cocoa combining into a light sharp resin.
The taste took all of those previously mentioned flavors to combine initially and then as it warms more resin starts to kick into a decent little hop bite. Lingering resin and nuts lead into the aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body so it becomes pretty sessionable. Carbonation comes across fairly smooth and allows the resin to be the bitterness over my tongue.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good American Brown Ale, hopheads might even like it.

This was served in a nonic pint glass, wishing they would have put this in a tulip.
The appearance was a hazy mahogany color with a slim transparency about it. Carbonation was seen rising at a moderate pace to fill a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than about forty seconds.
The smell had a restrained cooked malts over some light spice.
The taste was mainly spicy trying to bring in a slight breadiness but even that stays mainly subdued. A slight spicy aftertaste leads to a semi-dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation seemed fine for the style and for me. Bitterness is there but not overbearing.
Overall, I say this was okay for the style and for me. A part of me was hoping for a bit more fruitiness or even some Belgian sweetness, but it’s decent.

Keg at the brewpub. Pours clear gold with a white foam head. The nose has some mild citrus, dried pale malts, hay. Medium sweet flavor with light perfume, flowers, orange peel and pine needles. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Lightly drying on the finish with mellow floral bitterness and malty sugars. Good one.

Medium sweet flavor with nice floral and piney hops, moderate earthy bitterness, cocoa, slight espresso. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Good balance on the finish, slight piney resins, more toast, cocoa and pine. Solid.

Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Finishes nicely with decent balance, more bread and subtle Belgian yeast. Not bad.

Light in body with average carbonation. Nice finish with more basic, bready malts, mild grassy bitterness, further pine notes. Fine.

Medium sweet flavor with faint lemony tang, wheat bread, some banana, phenols. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Nicely balanced to finish, not too sweet, with faint bitter hay, lemon meringue, tangerine and bubblegum. Solid.
