Brewed for April Fools & given a ridiculously long name. Bottle. Shared with Kouji at Asahiya. A gleaming copper brown with s thick head of light beige foam. Simply beautiful just minamal lacing. An earthy spicy soba aroma. The taste is solidly soba, think the noodles, earthy with a clean bitter finish that gives some citrus, floral & pine. Pretty good stuff.

Bottle 12fl.oz. [ As Sankt Gallen Imperial Chocolate Stout ]. [ Vintage 2012 ]. ABV: 8.5%. Clear dark brown color with a average to large, frothy - creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, funky, brett - leather. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, chocolate, leather, dry. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20140118]

Bottle from Hasegawa. Nose of caramel, peaches, oranges, minerals, light chocolate. Amber-orange with a low, lacy head. Sweet caramel and stewed peaches with decent hop bite. Grassy, minerally, a bit metallic. the hard water really comes through. Finishes dry and just a bit earthy. Not bad, but their regular amber is much better. A bit bland, this one.

300 ml bottle. Pours darker amber, almost copper. Sall head that is gone fast. Aroma is quite fruity, some hops and some spikily sharp alcohol, making my nose twist. Taste is softer at first, more fruity with some dried plums. Then some serious bitterness comes to the forefront. Alcohol content is much better hidden though than was suggested by the aroma. Good beer, I wonder what the taste would be like after it ages for a couple of more years.

Bottle, had this last summer. It poured a clear gold with a thin fizzy head. The aroma was light oranges. The taste was solid, a citrus/orange fruitiness on a beer base, solidly done but nothing exceptional. Give it a shot if you see it, I think it’d do better as a summer seasonal than spring...

330 ml bottle from Dogenzaka Shinonoya. Pours nice deep and dark brown with a thin brown head. Aroma is full of roast, dark bitter chocolate, a bit of alcohol - that is quite well hidden for a beer of 9%. It has some dark fruits lurking as well. Taste is what I would expect from a nice imperial stout. It is definitely sweet but not boozy, lots of roasted malts mingling with malt base, chocolate sweetness - and finishing up in a bitter chocolate and cocoa finish. I guess there is a lot coming out from roast malts - and there should be no real chocolate and cocoa used. Nice and enjoyable beer, well executed. Should buy a few more of these and see what happens if I try it after some extra ageing.

6.5% Bottle from CBB. My first Valentine’s Beer of 2014 served in a snifter & paired with chocolate + a mint aero type chocolate. It pours a dark brown almost black with a thick head of tan foam which left behind minimal lacing. Great rich milk chocolate & light mint aroma. It really hits the mark in terms of aroma. It has a decent smooth creamy light-med body. The taste is mint which then segways into cocoa, milk chocolate & a dark bitter chocolate in the finish with roasted notes. I’m really digging this beer though as it warms up I can see the mint most likely comes from some kind of syrup. It started off strong but lost some steam as it warmed up. I still like it though.

Bottle. 2012 vintage. A more or less black one, topped by a dense, finger-thick dark beige head that leaves lacings. The aroma has a nice bretty touch, with some lemon and woody hints. Pepper notes. Don’t really like that the brett cloakes the chocolate and roasted malts so well though. It’s super smooth on the palate, lighlty warming, and quite full-bodied. Feeling dry even though there’s certainly residual sweetness. Chocolate and some roasted malts too, lasting for a good while. Some alcohol burn too in the end. Sure a nice one, and it would be interesting to sample an unbretted edition. 140118

Bottle @ Fynsk Brunsviger er kommet til Ulfborg for at blive , som streger i dine hvide underbukser. Day 2. Pours dark brown with floaties. Chocolate, roast, mild brett and coffee. Smooth and medium bodied.
