Pours deep mahogany into a tulip. Creamy, mocha head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Vanilla and chocolate aromas. Dry with coconut, almond and chocolate upfront turning to espresso in the lasting finish.

Highly clear, light amber to golden body is topped by a medium-sized white head that quickly fades to a ring.
Light herbal/grassy hops with a touch of juju fruit-like character, some rye spiciness and a touch of iced tea character. I think I smell the ginger, which does actually lift the aroma up somewhat, as the hops are not present in very high quantity. Yet nor is there anything wrong with what’s here (don’t get any oak, and the spices are not overdone at all). No alcohol or flaws.
Very straightforward in the flavor, moderately sweet, with various spice notes from rye, hop, pepper, ginger, etc...A touch of light butteriness from the oak, with herbal and grassy hop notes on the end and low bitterness overall. Quite homogenous, actually. Having not read the deScription, I didn’t realize there were any adjuncts in here at all. Carbonation is moderate with no alcohol noted.

This was poured into a becher pint glass.
The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a thin white head that quickly dissipated leaving a light little cap of a film of a head. Lacing was slightly bubbly and somewhat stringy.
The smell had some dry coconut, roasty coffee, subtle dry almond/nuttiness with a little bit of cocoa powder here and there.
The taste was moderately bitter and roasty through the coffee and then some sweetness from the coconut and cocoa powder.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fine sessionable feel as a porter. Gets pretty dry on my tongue with the roasty to bitterness quality rolling on my tongue.
Overall, I’d say this was a pretty good porter that I’d have again. Seems like \"coconut\" in a porter is the in thing.

This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a hazy burnt orange to yellow color with a slight transparency about it. A sustaining white foamy head appeared and gracefully dissipated at a nice pace.
The smell starts off with sweet grapefruit, fresh pine, fresh tropical fruits bursting into a light crisp malt backbone.
The taste wraps the previously mentioned hops together in a mainly bitter manner. Sweetness tends to sit back way more. It gets pretty bitter in the aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium in body with a decent sessionable sort of feel to it. Carbonation seemed nice and low enough to allow the bitterness to hit pretty hard on the feel. It’s pretty dry as well.
Overall, I’d say this was a pretty good DIPA, it hits all of the marks as one. I’d have again.

Stout brewed w vanilla beans and cocoa nibs.

Can, version 2, from Charles St Liquors refrigerator, drunk 12/20/15.
Clear, light bronze color shows light carbonation and a medium-sized off-white head that fades quickly to cover.
Pineapple, mango, light grapefruit and lighter, headier citrus notes (tangerine skin, orange juice). Light honey, biscuits and clean yeast round out the aroma with low alcohol apparency and no flaw. Pretty sniffable, not exactly deep, overly fresh or juicy like some of the best, but it’s not horribly resinous or dominated by pine/grapefruit.
In the mouth it’s lightly sweet, but well-attenuated with only biscuit and light honey showing from the malts. Not sticky, resinous or caramelly, so that goes a long way. Lightly catty citra hops, lots of pineapple and tangerine, with a bit of apple and pear. Herbs, leaves and other various goofy mosaic notes. Cherry sweetness on the end, with light alcohol warmth and malty sweetness. Moderately carbonated with a lightly bready to watery texture. For 9% abv it does well, but is certainly not among the top tier of DIPAs in New England.

12 ounce can. Opaque dark brown color. Large thick tan head. Rich malty aroma, redolent of cocoa and java. Lots of roasted malt flavor with notes of cocoa, black cherries and coffee. Resiny hops balance this nicely.

Cask gravity @ GBBF 2015. Pours a hazy orange color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity citrus hoppy aroma. Fruity malty citrus hoppy flavor. Has a fruity malty citrus hoppy finish.

Can from jredmond. A foamer! Pours brown with a tan head. Aroma of toasted malt and coconut. Med body or so. Flavor is chocolate, mild coconut and smooth burnt malt. Maybe some chocolate in the finish. A bit thinnish in body, and the flavors are solid, but not strong. For what it is supposed to be, it’s a fairly good ale to choose.
