I don't know about this one...something seems off. Has a green apple aroma and a witbieresque cloudy yellow body. Seriously, it looks like somebody poured apple juice in a beer and called it "Ephemere." Flavor is dominated by sour, fermented apple with an interesting spicy finish. But, where's the beer, yo? I could hide my beer with strong fruit flavors too.

Hah! I was surprised to pour this and smell wheat! A witbier, eh? I had no clue Unibroue brewed one of these tasty concoctions. But, I digress. Has that typical wheaty, spicy witbier aroma that diffuses from the cloudy yellow body. Tastes like Celis White, with less sour citrus and a slightly heavier reliance on spices. Thin-bodied per style, but the carbonation is lively, which hinders the smoothness a bit. I would end my review with a witty remark, but that would be over-the-hop.

This complex beer is the most refined of all of Unibroue’s beers. Hazy yellow color with a huge white head. The nose is pine, lemon and sugar candy. The palate is quite peppery with lemon and yeastiness persisting through out leading to a quick tart lemony finish. Simply their best blonde ale!!!

At 10.5% it is a very big beer with VERY complex flavours. It has a nice spicy port aroma, with a complex maderia taste with hints of caramel, and chocolate, not as yeasty as other Unibroue beers and warm spicy rum like finish. Rerate

Sampled at From The Vine monthly beer tasting Aug 4th, 2003: Pours a cloudy blonde/gold color with a thin white head. Thin and quick lacing and very effervescent. The aroma is very wheaty with a bit of citrus and malt too. Slick body with lots of alcohol up front, with intermittent fruity and malty flavors making themselves known. The finish is very fruity and sweet. An interesting Canadian Belgian but really nothing to write home about.

Sampled at From The Vine monthly beer tasting Aug 4th, 2003: I honestly don't much see the point in a granny smith beer. Pours a murky yellow with a medium white head. Quick lacing. Strong aroma of sour apple and wheat. Light-bodied with a character consistent with other beers of the style. Sour apple dominates the flavor, along with some wheat and spice in the background. The finish is rather crisp and stays with the apple theme. Not bad for what it is, I just don't see the point in beers like this.

Opened up nicely after warming. Murky brown, with a thin tan head. Aroma is of sweet, fruity malts. Flavor is accentuated by alcohol warmth. Again, dark, sweet fruits hit home here, with hints of grape and caramel developing as the beer warms. Kind of thin-bodied, but the complexity makes up for this fact.

Bottled. Pale yellow, hazy, rich head. Strong peach aroma. Lightly acidic, yet super sweet with a dominating flavour of canned peaches in syrup. Somewhat artificial and just too sweet to be refreshing.

Aroma of cherries, marzipan, light spices. Lean body, possibly thinner than it used to be, with light residual sweetness, nice cherry juice, touch of spice and marzipan; the final is weaker than probably it was.
Still very good, no evident signs of oxidization.

Cold. Flat look, reddish amber. Wonderful fruity, cherry aroma, with spices, cinnamon overall. Good body structure, soft mouthfeel; sweet flavor, fruity and with the necessary acidity; no bitterness.
Complex and wonderful.

Cold. Red-amber color, no head, flat. Very nice cherry aroma, light Christmas spices, red grapes, bitter oranges, light cloves. Sweet, syrupy, but very well balanced by a citrus sourness. And in the end a background note of hop is a pleasant surprise.
Hot. The alcohol punch in the nose is a good reminder of the cold days and the snow, but the flavor is less complex than when tasted colder, yet is very pleasant.
Cold, I would drink more and more. Hot, it can be replaced by many better nordic Grogg or hot China Martini (I'm a big fan of it).

Pourred a large dark head that did not disapear too quickly. Very dark colour, almost opaque. The spices reminded me of the other Irrésistible but this one has a thin taste of roastiness. Would probably be better with more roastiness or butterscotch taste. Overall, I was alittle bit disapointed, it seems that we have a blonde golden ale in the body of a dark ale. I not sure where Unibroue is taking us with that one.
