May 3, 2003: Cloudy orange-tan; yeasty, spicy aroma like old barns, pears, with light nutmeg and a hint of wheat. Palate is yeastily dry with wheaty, fruity notes (pear, blackberry) and juicy pale malts. Tart, wheaty finish.

Copper-coloured ale with a peppery aroma, and a subtley complex malty palate with notes of iron.

Blood red colour. The aroma is assertive cherries and spice. The flavour is quite spicy these days, with abundant cherry. The finish is fairly tart, but also with a lot of sugariness as well. Sadly, this beer isn’t what it used to be. It is thinner, which makes the alcohol more apparent (especially when heated) and the spiciness is a bit over the top. I miss the robust maltiness that used to be there. A former classic.

Nice golden yellow cloudy appearance. Pleasant malty aroma. First sip is alcohol and yeast. A very powerful beer. It remains yeasty and malty. This is a very good beer, but its definitely hard to drink more than one. Probably would not pair well with food. wow.
