330ml can. Cloudy, orangey, golden colour with average to huge, frothy to creamy, osteoporosing, minimally lacing, white head. Yeasty fruity and slightly citrusy, fruity hoppy aroma, notes of overripe yellow stone fruit, peach, apricot, nectarine, mirabelle, some orange, mandarine and lemon. Taste is sweet, citrusy fruity hoppy and yeasty fruity, sugary malty basis, notes of peach, apricot, nectarine, mirabelle. mandarine, orange, some biting hop bitterness; alcoholic finish. Oily to viscous texture, smooth and soft, minimally cloying as well as bitter hoppy biting palate, soft carbonation. Well, not easy to summarize: Definitely too sweet and sugary, but pretty intense on the fruity side as well, nice combination of hoppy and yeasty fruit flavours, hop bitterness compensates for the bigger part of the sweetness, not completely but rather well hidden alcohol - a lucky bag as so many Belgian beers, appropriate to scatter ratings across the whole scale. I vote for the fruitiness this time and neglect soem shortcomings.

330ml can. Hazy, pale yellow-ish, golden colour with average to huge, fluffy, moderately lasting and lacing, white head. Citrusy, grassy, hoppy and sweet-ish, biscuity, pale malty aroma, notes of lemon, lemongrass, some melon, honeydew melon. Taste is citrusy fruity hoppy, slightly grassy, minimally sugary, biscuity, pale malty basis, notes of lemon, lemongrass, hints of melon, honeydew melon. Minimally oily texture, super-soft, smooth palate, very fine carbonation. Highly drinkable, a bit restricted concerning hop flavours (lots of Citra, not much Mosaic detectable), excellent mouthfeel - good.

One of several new Enigma beers, a strong stout flavoured with coconut and vanilla, brewed at Anders. Thick and foamy, frothy, cobweb-lacing, yellowish beige head on a black beer with thin misty burgundy edges. Aroma initially dominated by sharp carbon dioxide - but this fades quickly, making room for impressions of old dusty chocolate bars, hard caramel, port sauce, game stock, brown bread, prunes, raisin bread, cashew nuts, freshly cut red apples, brown honey, pear syrup, candi sugar even, madera, baked banana but hardly any vanilla at all - and no discernable coconut whatsoever. Fruity onset, sweet with hints of dried banana and fig, raisin, red apple, sourish blackberry-like touch, medium carbonated; full, very toffeeish, pecan-nutty and somewhat chocolatey maltiness, sweetness of 'sirop de Liège' lingering about but again the vanilla has a hard time piercing through, and the coconut passes by without being noticeable at all. Ends with a light bready yeast effect, a herbal hop bitter note and warming, port-like alcohol, strong and boozy, but not showing up too early. A well-made Belgian strong dark - 'Belgian imperial stout' to the bone, with strong quadrupel-like influences. Potent, complex, agreeable sipper, but failing to reach its goal in promising vanilla and coconut without delivering any... One point off for that, would have been close to 4/5 otherwise.

17/V/20 - 33cl can from Enigma webshop, shared @ home, BB: 19/III/21 (2020-424) Thanks for Ama for placing the order!

Little cloudy deep yellow beer, big creamy off-white head, stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: quite some banana, yeasty, chemical, solvents, yeasty, bit grassy, some tropical fruits, pineapple. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: lots of ripe banana, bit metallic, bit sweet, hoppy, sugary, chemical, more solvents, nail polish, unpleasant weird chemical bitterness. Aftertaste: bad, pretty chemical, unpleasant bitterness, metallic, banana peel, medicinal, nope, not good. Too bad, I really liked the design of these cans, I liked the concepts, but only the NEIPA was pretty good.

Pretty clear blond yellow beer, huge (for a Milkshake IPA, not for a Belgian ale, mind you) head, bit irregular, stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: fruity, peaches, some banana, vanilla notes, almost smells like bourbon. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet, lots of lactose, vanilla, soft acidity, slightly bitter, little malty. Aftertaste: sweet, lots of fake vanilla, like the outside of tic-tac mints, sugary, some orange peel, soft bitterness, bubble gum. Not bad in it’s genre, though of lot of the flavour from the added pineapple has gone missing...
