Description
Daisen G Beer is a craft beer brewery located in Tottori prefecture, in the Chugoku region, just north of Okayama. Located at the base of Mt. Daisen, which is more commonly known as Hōkifuji in the area, the brewery opened in 1997 as an off-shoot of the sake producing company Kumezakura Shuzō and San-in Sanso Corporation, a company that deals with high-pressure gas. The local area is famous for its clear spring water, sourced from the snow at the top of the mountain, and its black soil, kuroboku in Japanese, which is said to be some of the most fertile in Japan. This fertile soil has resulted in Daisen G Beer being able to grow its own barley, in the form of Daisen Gold, in the spring; Daisen G Beer’s own hops, called Weihen Hop, which are harvested in the summer, and also Yamadanishiki, a sake yeast that is used in the production of the beers such as Daisen G Yagō.

fairly hazy amber golden color. Nice cracker, Funky yeast with good peppery character. Medium full body, big bitterness with herbal and fruity notes dancing on top of funkiness. I like this. Bitter finish with lemon and yeast. Interesting

Medium amber brown color. Very dry almost astringent nose with strong Belgian yeast character, but as I shook the beer more I noticed nice apricot jam over toast. Light body, modest bitterness, with good apricot character, but body is a bit unbalanced. Not really that sophisticated as I hoped. Light bitter finish. Ok

Hazy dark golden color with frothy white head. Big frothy white head with nice banana and cloves in the nose. Medium full body, very carbonated, with prickly hoppiness and citrus character. Although the nose was pretty typical the mouth showed some uniqueness. Fairly sharp bitter finish. Very rounded. Pretty good for what it wants to be

Tap at CBM. Pretty, pale pastel yellow, cloudy, with a thick, fine head. Estery yeast nose, peach, clove, apricot, lemon, wheat, light banana. More Citra in the flavor, lemon, orange, wheat, banana and clove. Decent hopfenweisse. Crisp but full, a bit too gassy but that is probably the bar's fault. Good stuff.

Tap at Lezzet. Loving this, my second authentic German-style beer in a row here. Bright, hazy gold with a fine head. Soft malt nose, rich bread, light and crisp with some lemony, spicy hops. Rich malt flavor yet crisp and snappy, lemony hops do the trick, light and very authentic. Well done.

Tap at Molto. Single hopped with Citra. Bright deep gold, clear, a bit oily. Medium high head. Nose is a bit of cat piss, biscuit, cracker, lemon and orange. Slightly metallic flavor, citrus and crackers, dry, crisp but not all that bitter. Great stuff.

medium dark amber color. Nice light, and dry, funky Belgian yeast nose with nice citrusy notes underneath. Light mouth. Bone dry, when initially sipped it but gained sweetness as it warmed up. Modestly aggressive funkiness with notes of apricot and citrus. Modest bitterness through out with Belgian yeast notes linger along side. Nice new world take on a sessionable Belgian pale ale.

Tap at Takumiya. Pretty, cludy golden orange with lace. Huge fruity nose, stone fruits, citrus, rice, spicy Belgian yeast. Medium sweet, big fruit, nice rice. Crisp and refreshing. Good. Seems like the added rice made it crisper and fruitier.

Darker orange or more like amber. Nice soft fruity hoppy nose, some sweet caramel there as well. Taste is relatively weaker bodied than nose would reveal. Sweetish but not sticky, fryiry and drinking dangerously easy.
