Description
Established 1666 - Closed 1989 - Re-established 2010 - Re-named 2022
One of the greatest names in British brewing, Truman's has been a part of London life for almost 350 years. Closed in 1989 during dark days for the brewing industry, we have been working hard to bring Truman's back to its former glory. We craft an eclectic range of great beer in cask, keg and can at our new brewery in Hackney Wick. Everything we brew, we do with with skill, belief and passion.
The brewery in Hackney Wick was closed in June 2022 but the award-winning recipes are now brewed under contract for the three venues and online sales.
From Thursday 15 September, Truman’s Beer will be known as Big Penny, following the acquisition of the trademark by the management team at the Old Truman Brewery announced earlier this year.

Keg at the Bankers Draft, Eltham. Hazy orange pour with a white head. Aromas of sweet citrus, peach, light spice action. Flavours of tropical fruit, pithy orange, lemon zest. Good, quaffable brew.

Cask @ Baxter's Court, Hackney. Clear golden with a head. A hoppy pale ale, it's a nice enough cask with a very mild dryness. Has a mild berry-fruit sweetness.

Bottle at Craigs, small stable bubbly head, hazy deep yellow color, musty woody aroma with a bit of candy and hints of honey and almonds, woody musty flavor with alcohol in the back. Nice, just a bit one dimensional.

Lys brun klar med lavt hvitt skum. Lukter druer, grapefrukt og tuttifrutti. Lett. Søtlig fruktig smak, aprikos, noe honning og lett bitterhet. Kort

Good aroma of grains on top of a white foam and cloudy yellow. Nice grain flavour, dry, wheaty with a crisp finish. A nice craft lager with some memorable notes.
