Description
Established 1666 - Closed 1989 - Re-established 2010 - Re-named 2022

One of the greatest names in British brewing, Truman's has been a part of London life for almost 350 years. Closed in 1989 during dark days for the brewing industry, we have been working hard to bring Truman's back to its former glory. We craft an eclectic range of great beer in cask, keg and can at our new brewery in Hackney Wick. Everything we brew, we do with with skill, belief and passion.

The brewery in Hackney Wick was closed in June 2022 but the award-winning recipes are now brewed under contract for the three venues and online sales.

From Thursday 15 September, Truman’s Beer will be known as Big Penny, following the acquisition of the trademark by the management team at the Old Truman Brewery announced earlier this year.

Bottle from the dregs run. Cheers Craig! Pours clear golden amber with a thin white head. Aromas of light marmalade, also a touch of sulphur. Taste is boozy, sweet, more marmalade and caramel. That sulphur note is lingering. Relatively clean finish.

The taste is bitter - sweet, mango salsa, warming, chilli spice and earth with a drying finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Pleasant for a chilli beer.
