Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Tar coloured with a ring of cream head; herbal aroma with a definite touch of coriander; silky and dry in the mouth with metallic vegetable flavours - spinach and possibly coriander as well; the finish is sweet with some milky chocolate.

Bottle. A clear, golden beer with a small, off-white head leaving some lacings. Almost soapy on the nose, with fruits and citrusy, a spiced note, some malts and a ginger-like scent. Soapy, citrusy flavor with some pale malts and pinecones, ginger, and a little bitterness towards the end. Soapy, medium-bodied mouthfeel. Maybe it could work nicely as a refresher, it’s a decent beer, but too strange to be downed all night. (090422)

Bottle. It pours a clear, copper body under a small off-white head. Bready, quite fruity nose. Mostly dried fruits like prunes. Something reminiscent of oxidation, and a hint of toffee as well. The flavor is on the malty side, with bread and toffee, some oxidation, a hint of hazelnuts, some fruity hops and a little bitterness. Bready, bitter finish. Medium body. Far from impressing, and rather boring too. (090422)

50 cl bottle at Bredaryds Wärdshus on April 25, 2009Clear copepr color, white head. Malty, acidic,, grainy, hoppy, spicy scent. NEttle, acidic, hoppy,spicy taste. Honey aftertaste. Medium to moussy mouthfeel, low bitterness.

Cask @ The Speaker, Westminster SW1. Pours a copper color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty caramel aroma with some hoppy hints. Fruity malty caramel flavor with some hoppy hints. Has a sweetish malty and fruity caramel finish.

Cask (gravity) @ National Winter Ales Festival 2009, Manchester, England.Clear medium to dark brown orange color with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, hay, coffee notes, light hoppy. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20090122]

Pours deep mahogany into an English pint. Tan micro head with excellent craters as it recedes leaving moutains of lacing. Dark pit fruit and sour cocoa aromas. Roasted full sweet milk chocolate upfront turning to a thin funky sour fruit finish.

Cask @ Bon Accord. Dark red-brown colour, tan head. Aroma of toasted malts and coriander. Flavour of roasted malts, coriander, possibly anis, some other herbs. Bitter finish. Doesn’t do it for me.

Cask handpull at Fox & Anchor, London. Served a little warm perhaps, but a decent best bitter/red ale. Full red berry fruit, slight strawberry jam edge. It’s an odd bitter, some good fruit. Some yeast character. Deep gold/copper colour. Almost a bit of fruit syrupy malt, but it never gets there. I quite like it, but it never quite resolves itself. Fine.
