Cask @Pub Höyry
Dark copper brown, firm tan head. Molasses, fruits (dried plums) and a bit of fruity hops in the nose. Dried plums and apricot in the flavor. Good malty base, non-aggressive hops. Some earthy notes. Different. After sampling this and Old Growler I could guess that Nethergate has its own unique touch in the brewing.

Opaque black, small tanned head. Flowery, hoppy nose. Medium-bodied. Sweetish, some burnt sugar, light roasted malty. More like a dunkel on cask.

Cask handpull at County Hotel, JDW, Ashford. OK I will admit now that I wasn’t it the fittest state to taste this. I had had a hangover that lasted 2 days and this was the first alcohol to pass my lips and I wasn’t sure that after this experience that I would ever be able to drink again. So up against this background how was this? Very deep ruby with a thin beige head. Syrupy fruit aroma, choc/coffee there to. Oily in mouth and on the finish. Touch of sour liquorice which gets stronger as it goes down. OK, but not a big fan. Like a liquoricey porter. 2.6/5 Re-rate Cask handpull at County Hotel, Ashford. Liquorice/charcoal porter which was in excellent condition and full of flavour.

Cask handpull at Wenlock. Copper, thin white head. Malty session bitter with good drying hop. Some yeast on aroma which runs through the beer. Hop is very assertive and possibly a touch too much. Dry finish is very dessicating. Nothing wrong with it, unless the hop is just a bit too much. I rather blow hot and cold on this breweries beers.

An orange beer with a thick light orange head. The aroma is very flowery, but also with some spicy notes. The flavor is sweet and again very flowery combined with hints of perfume and coriander, leading to a dry end. The body is somewhat thin.

Bottled. Dark brown with red notes, and a medium beige head. Roasted and smoked aromas with coffee and chocolate notes. Flavor is of chocolate and roasted malt. The finish has a chocolaty, dry bitterness with some smoke notes. Beautiful lacings. Not as full-bodied as I could wish for. (060124)

(Bottle 50 cl) Neatly clear darkish amber with a fine, creamy head. Looks seem to be this beer’s best feature though, as it hasn’t really got much flavour to offer. Somewhat malty notes, a touch of bitterness and a somewhat metallic edge. Quite ordinary. 290303

Cask at the Wenlock Arms, London
Golden Color. Grassy hop aroma, manure, pears. Ordinary malt, quite strong bitterness. Just a bit more than common.

(Bottle 50 cl) Beautiful amber coloured beer with a marked reddish tint. Small and dissipating head. A dry and markedly bitter ale with the coriander spicing shining through giving some resemblance to Belgian Wit. Rather fresh and interesting beer. 011002

(Bottle 50 cl) Dark - but far from black - closer to mahogany. Dry and rather full body with a distinct and lasting bitterness. Decent all right. 191101
