Tried at Nottingham Beer Festival 2016. Deep almost black colour with a tan head. Aroma is big aniseed, maybe too much as it dominates the beer. Taste strong aniseed as well. Medium body.

Handpull cask at the Six Bells, Fulbourn. Black with a slowly dissipating cream-coloured head. The star anise dominates the scent. Sweet taste, again dominated by aniseed, bit there’s a bitterness at the end of the sip that keeps it from getting too sickly. Palate is pretty thin. It’s fairly one-dimensional, but it’s a rather nice dimension, and it’s good to see Everards push the boat out the tiniest bit.
