Bomber from Costco. Pours a dark brown color with a medium brown head. A big licorice, roast and cherry nose. Dry cocoa, metallic cherry, licorice, vanilla. The cherry is oddly sweet mixing a bit unusual in the beer. Ok.

12oz bottle from Mitsuya’s Liquor in Asagaya. Poured into a snifter. Hazy golden orange color with a medium-sized off-white head that stuck around for most of the beer. Honey, malty, caramel on the nose with slight pine needle undertones. Very sweet on the palate...overly in my opinion. A slight hint of bitterness on a long dry sweet finish. Not balanced enough.

Bottle. Pour is a dark brown cola color. A good tan head disappates to a thin head with spotty lacing. Aroma is hop forward with dark roast and anise notes. Taste, although being nearly black, is a clean medium roast. Earthy hops, mild bitterness, and a bit of sweetness round out the profile. Not usually my kind of thing, but essentially a Black IPA.

This was poured into a pint glass. I had to have two bottles to get a good feel for the beer.
The appearance was a black color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute leaving a sticky speckled lacing that was super light.
The smell had a sharp pine to citrus bitter hops allowing a nice roasted dark coffee bean to come out.
The taste was mainly the roasted coffee bean as the citrus and pine starts to dull out a bit.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a pretty good sessionability about it. The carbonation seemed to be a tad lower the most CDA’s but I’m okay with that.
Overall, it’s mainly an average CDA but the best thing about it is it’s smell.
