Description
BridgePort produces a variety of international style ales, including IPA. BridgePort’s ales are naturally conditioned in the bottle, keg, or cask from which they are served - they’re never force carbonated. The natural conditioning creates ale that is smooth, naturally carbonated, and full of flavor.

Today, BridgePort Brewing Company is one of the top specialty brewers in the state of Oregon. As BridgePort Brewing grew in popularity, it also grew in its brewing capacity from its 600-barrel beginnings to over 100,000 barrels per year. Distribution has grown from Portland to 18 states, and the brewery’s emphasis on producing quality, innovative ales has provided it with an international following and numerous awards.

Bottle from the Woodland Nugget Market. Pours very dark/brn/blk with a temporary tan head. Nose starts with strong hop, moves to dark malt. Mixed floral aroma. Malt is very low key. Med body. Flavor is floral/earthy. Maybe touch of citrus. The malt is clean, only a mild roastiness. There’s a light mellow sweetness to go with the hop. This is very different stuff, so I looked for the ingredients: Midnight Wheat. Not supposed to be very flavorful. So this may well be like a black IPA. Without the chocolate malt, etc.

Bottle: A beautiful amber pour, capped with two fingers of creamy beige head. The nose is dry and dusty… sort of earthy and nutty. Faintly herbal, rye, and quite a bit of bready malt. Taste is more bready malt, a little herbal and rye. Earthy. Not really picking up on the piney hops, but it does have some astringent bitterness in the tail.

Bottle: Hazy golden orange color, topped with a thin finger of creamy off-white head. Earthy, herbal, and floral scents, some bready malt too. Citrus comes out in the taste, along with a good dose of florals. Its lightly sweet with minimal bitters. Faint bready malt in the tail.

Light enough in body and taste to almost fake you into considering it might be a session ale. Hop variety is very citrusy (lemons). Some other citrusy elements in the aroma, very light bodied as well. Not the typical in your face NW IPA.

Pours out a light brown /dark amber with a small skin of beige head. Sweet nutty aroma, more molasses sweetness in the taste. Very light bodied and not much of a finish.
